Tardis Blue

Ethereal Winter Wind

Of course I seem to remember at one point -- don't remember which Doctor, offhand, but not from the current series -- when the Tardis was a (grand?) piano....

I'm old school Doctor Who. Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were the best IMO.

I like the darker looking blue of the TARDIS as opposed to the bright blue.

It looks like Noodler's Air-Corp Blue Black. With that slight greenish tinge to it.

However if Noodler's did an ink of the Pantone 2955c. The ink bottle could feature a wrap around label of the Police Box exterior.

I'd buy it.

I'm with you! Pertwee, Baker and Air Corp Blue-Black are all in my "favorites" folder. As for a tardis bottle, I'd buy it, as well. Frankly, Nathan doesn't seem much of the Dr. Who type. But perhaps I'm wrong.

I knew this thread would be dangerous! I'm a Pertwee/Baker gal myself. Now I must get a bottle of Noodler's Air-Corp Blue Black. :headsmack:

Bad Belted Kingfisher comes close to that Pantone colour square, IMHO.

I was about to say the exact same thing (mostly because I was just writing with the ink in my Waterman Phileas and thought it looked similar).

Still, as a relatively new Dr. Who fan, I'd love to see a nod from this side of the Atlantic to a redoubtable cultural institution on the other :)

What a fantastic (old) thread! Actually answered a question I was about to pose! I wanted to find what ink was close to the blue of the TARDIS!

Skimmed over this whole thread... didn't look at the dates until someone mentioned "cardiff" being in a recent episode... and that episode having been a pretty long while ago, lol.

my mention, and since its not already in the thread as far as I can see, I wouldn't be surprised if its newer, but I have no clue as to the age of it...

check out Private Reserve "Electric DC Blue", the swatch I'm seeing, looks really pretty close to me, and asking my wife who has a slightly different sense of colors than me, thinks the Pantone swatch above has a little more green, but that the ink swab might be more like how it would look painted on wood. plus the lighter shadings of it being more like the grain showing through on the TARDIS.

and this color has coincidentally been one of the most recent ones i've tried and I really liked it. ... and thinking about it it KINDA does look about right to me so far.

Okay... which blue -- because I will hunt it down for you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

:)

I'm risking being very high maintenance here, but...

1) Must not stain clear demonstrator

2) non-pigmented

3) One of them is Tardis #6 (fairly old deep slate blue Tardis with The First Doctor)

4) The other is freshly painted Tardis #3

5) Bonus if the ink is British or Japanese

But then again, even Rocket is high maintenance

So, that's the two inks both non staining and one is British and the other Japanese.

BTW, not Prussian Blue or Shin Kai. They aren't saturated enough.

Steve, if you get a chance to buy Pelikan blue black in Europe, pick it up, it's really elegant.

If you haven't tried Sei Boku or Sailor blue, you should own them for your collection.

Just thought I'd update everyone...

BBC Approved color codes for Tardis Blue

Pantone: 2955C

Hex: #003B6F
RGB: 0, 59,111
CMYK: 100, 55, 10, 48

If you visit Tekker Ink and pop in the Hex color code you can have a bottle of Tardis Blue FP ink. I haven't received mine yet, so I can't speak to how well behaved it might be, but I can update when it gets here.
