Cross Aventura Pen Leaking :(

Hi everyone, this is my first post on these forums.

I have a Cross Aventura fountain pen that I received for Christmas. I've recently started using it more often but whenever I use it I get ink all over my hand. I eventually discovered that The ink was coming out of where the barrel and the "handle" screw together. Whenever I run my thumb over this joint, a bunch of ink comes out. I unscrewed the pen but there was no loose ink to be seen on the inside. I looked at it really closely and noticed a hin line of ink between the chrome handle and the plastic screw threads, so the ink seems to be going down into the pen from the cartridge and then comIng back up between the chrome and the plastic. The ink is not coming out of the space between the cartridge and the plastic, but from between the plastic and the chrome. This is very frustrating and I would like to know why this happening. I don't know if my pen is broken or if this a common problem with pens of this make. Anyone else had this problem?

I have an Aventura and really like it! Could it be there is a hairline crack somewhere? Or a pressure problem in the feed, perhaps a flushing out is necessary. Sorry that my reply may sound like an "is it plugged in?" response (oooo i do not like those! :ltcapd: ). I am experiencing a similar problem with my Sheaffer Triumph (ink on finger while writing) and will be putting on my sleuthing attire to find its problem. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I am also attempting to remove a section from the barrel of my Aikin-Lambert; not an easy thing to do :crybaby:
