Pictures And Info On The Visconti's New Mecca & Medina

Already been done, thanks to Henry Simpole and Salman Khattak who was gracious enough to do the calligraphy. It's called the Spirit of Life and it's the perfect pen for all day writing sessions. :cloud9:

But we're hijacking Visconti's thread. Let's not lose site that they were gracious enough to design pens for a faith less common in Italy. :clap1:

The Mecca is beautiful, and I doubt I'd have a problem writing comfortably with it. The shape reminds me of the Montegrappa chess pen. The Medina is nice but looks like it might be hard to control that round body with sharp step ... just doesn't look very practical.

I love the clips as well as the pens, but the big step is a no-no. I do wish that Visconti would go to a similar clip on their regular pens.

Shamelessly targeted at the middle eastern market - not my thing at all.

What a curious choice of words. Have you ever known a product to be targeted *modestly* at a particular market segment?

Yes - I have. These models simply increase my existing dislike of Visconti as a brand. Too gaudy by far.

I wouldn't say I yet dislike Visconti as a brand, though I sure would like to see some more models like many of the beautiful early Celluloids they produced in the 90s. And the huge amount of LEs and SEs they produce make the brand as a whole seem more like modern unaffordable bling, than the early attempts at reviving old fountain pen traditions. I can see where you're coming from. I still like Visconti as a whole, and I really want to try out a Homo Sapiens, but for the most part my attention has gone to vintage pens due to the prices and styles the modern brands have taken up.

I'm perfectly happy with gaudy if it's a usable pen style. I can't imagine how I could hold these comfortably for extended use.

not much my type of pens, I prefer the Romanica to them.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
