Mine arrived yesterday - I picked it up from the post office at 7.00 am this morning when they opened, on the way to work.

I've got it in my Waterman 52 1/2 V woodgrain pen - very nice it is too.

Thank you to all who made this possible and especially to Bryan, with the mamoth task of dealing with the orders and posting out.

My ink arrived today too! I haven't filled a pen yet because I'm enjoying the look of the ink in the bottle. Amazing colour and I love the label. I sure wish I'd ordered more :(

Thanks again Bryan and everyone involved in the mammoth task :D

Hello All,

(I'll copy this to Shipping Updates, but wanted to make sure everyone got this)

The little snag I ran into earlier this week is unfortunately not resolved. There is good news, but some of it is still up in the air.

Here's the problem. On the 14th, I decided to enter in all the addresses I'm shipping ink out to using PayPal's Multi-Shipping service. It works great and it's a great way to keep track of the packages I'm sending out. Well, after I clicked the "Pay and Print" button, and half way through all the labels shipping, I ran out of ink for my printer.

I didn't think is was that big of a deal since I wouldn't be able to finish packing the rest of the ink until that weekend. Well, when this past Monday came, I bought another ink cartridge and went to go reprint those labels that did not print. I received a pop-up window stating I could not print labels older than 48 hours, I thought that was odd, so I click on the "void labels" button and again a pop-up stating I could not void a label after 48 hours. I got on the phone with PayPal and the agent was useless and stated she would have to refer the matter to her supervisor and he/she would get back to me within 48 hours.

Well today, the good news is they'll either refund the $103.+ dollar amount or allow me to reprint the labels (my preference). The bad news is they need to contact the USPS representative to see if my labels would still be valid in their system, that should happen on Monday.

I have no problem using my own funds to pay for the shipping costs, but I fear that come Monday they will state I can reprint the labels. So I thought I had better wait.

It's a lesson learned for anyone printing labels online, I guess there is only a small window when you can print labels after payment. Nothing at all like buying a roll of stamps. My apologies for the delay, I will update you on Monday on this whole mess. I just hate dealing with these types of things, common sense never seems to prevail!

Thanks for your patients and you're more than welcome to contact me with any questions you may have.

-Bryan

Boy, that's a lot of bottles of ink!

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

Are there any other flex users using this ink? It works well on G Lalo paper (yet it takes a very long time to dry!) but feathers a lot on Clairefontaine. Also, the hairlines are noticeably broader than with my thinner inks (Herbin, MB). Is anybody else having problems with nib creep? unsure.gif

I feel the great, smooth flow everyone's talking about when I use my needlepoint flex nib without changes in pressure (great for taking notes! biggrin.gif ), but it just doesn't seem to want me to flex with it. sad.gif

I've been having similar difficulties. It works wonderfully on some papers, but on others, feathers really badly in any pen I've tried it in which has generous flow.

Nib creep too, but not so much as to preclude use.

William.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally! After what seemed like endless delays and waiting, my ink arrived today!

And it was worth the wait. This is a very nice, rich reddish-brown. It is almost a match for the Artone Sepia calligraphy ink I used years ago (no longer made, due to toxic ingredients, or so I heard). Already loaded into a chocolate Bexley Sub Grande with a stub nib, just in time for the weekend.

Thanks to all who contributed to this project -- and to Bryan for putting up with my endless b**ching about the delays.

Bill

Mine arrived today :D :D :D :D THANKS to Bryan and all who made it possible!

Initial evaluation:

1) I filled my Bexley 10th Anniversary Chocolate Ebonite with fine nib with the FPN ink. 2) The color is definitely unique. The scans I've seen are certainly close, yet there's nothing like seeing it in person.

3) Seems to flow very well, but then again, the Bexley fine nib flows quite generously. 4) As to feathering: cheap paper that is feather prone, this will feather. Black n' Red legal pad paper: only if I write slowly and let out more ink that usual. HP Premium Choice Laser Jet 32lb is fine. Some feathering on FPN Pads.

5) Initial impression verdict: I like it! Performance is much like the Swisher/Noodlers inks. Wet nibs need good paper. Thanks to all who worked so hard on it! (What's the next color? :P )

:) I think the color looks roughly right on my monitor though it's always hard to tell since the monitor is luminous and the paper is not. It did need a little tweaking.

Hi Chud,

It looks pretty red on my monitor...but that's happened with other brownish colours, too. Red is my favourite colour so it's sometimes disappointing to bid on an Ebay pen that *looks* very red on my monitor only to find that it isn't so red in real life

Looking at it on my laptop minotor now it does look more red than it really is... guess it's time to revisit color calibration. Oh well... :) It's hard to get it right on an LCD screen too, where viewing angle can make a big difference.

Has anyone had any FPN ink shipped to them by Bryan since his last shipping update posted here (<---click for link to shipping update page) on November 29th?

I live in Canada and was one of the last to order the first batch (mine is order # 076) but it's been 2 months to the day since I paid for it via PayPal...... :(

I emailed Bryan last Tuesday and when I did not hear back from him, sent an email to the FPN Admin Team. As far as I know, they've had no recent contact with him. Perhaps he's on holidays??? I hope he's OK. :(

Bryan, if you're out there and have been shipping ink every weekend, but forgot to update your shipping notice thread above, ya might want to update it ;)

Cheers,

~Maja

(late edit: added arrow pointing to shipping updates page and to add word "not" to third sentence---ie. I haven't heard from Bryan yet)

Yaaaay. I was very worried about Bryan because I hadn't heard from him. As I was hoping, he’s ok. He’s just been swamped with work and with the many gigs his choir has been doing. The last of the packages will be sent out early this week.

The second batch has been ordered, so those will be sent out when Bryan gets them. I’ll figure out where the cutoff of 1st & 2nd batch is and let everyone know.

Glad the lack of communication problem has been resolved, Maja, and hope you get your order soon.

It's worth the wait!

IME, the only quibble with the ink is a tendency to feather on cheaper papers and/or with very wet nibs. Otherwise, it's great!

Sunday my carry pen was a burgundy Sheaffer Imperial IV, medium nib, loaded with the FPN Galileo Manuscript ink. Prior to the start of Sunday School and the morning worship services people frequently give me updates for the folks on our prayer list, which I was carrying in the inside pocket of my suit coat. The FPN ink dries so quickly that I could write a note, fold the list up, and stick it right back in my pocket without giving a moment's thought smearing or staining my jacket! Also, even after having a pen sitting for a few days, nib up, without being used, it started right up.

Bottom line: I like it even more than I did in my initial impression! :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1:

Maja, I was just about to e-mail Bryan, too...From what he posted on Nov. 29th that would be shipped, I thought I should have had my ink by now. But I'll wait a few more days since Elaine says the last of the packages are being sent out this week.

:) Ann
