I don´t use the clips on my pens anyway, except the P51´s, a nice pen case is the way to go.

There are many designs to fit your needs, leather, fabric, penrolls....

I usually have a pencase with me these days. Some of my Nakaya's are clipless others are clipped, but I wear polos most days (ah the life of a west coast engineer :) ) and therefore have no shirt pocket. I won't put them into my pants pocket as they will get damaged.

I have a bag organizer with several pen slots. Clipless pens ride in there. They tend to be my nice ones anyway, so not used for general note taking, but more writing letters and such. So they are handily right next to the paper and envelopes. Note taking pens have clips and go in shirt pockets.

I believe that the purse is a tool invented by the patriarchy to oppress women (if it's not true, why don't men carry them?), so I try to keep my gear as simple as possible. That said, I also don't wear shirts with pockets. This is the practical reason for carrying a ringtop on a silk ribbon. They are awfully pretty things, and as close to fine jewelry as I get. They went totally out of fashion in the Thirties, perhaps because women's clothing became more complicated, but modern clothing has become so simplified that they once again make sense - or would if they weren't so totally obsolescent.
