How Do You Wear A Clipless Pen?

My suit jackets have a special pocket for pens. It's only about an inch wide, so even without a clip your pen will be safe and upright.

cheers,

I've been thinking about this since I have my first clipless in the mail. It would be great if someone could make a single pen wrap similar to Nakaya's with a clip. Then the wrap could clip to your shirt.

Seriously, though, clipless is an aesthetic choice. The Nakayas are gorgeous without the clips, particularly on my Negoro (photos of my pen at nibs.com).

I've been using leather pen cases long before I ever had a clipless pen, so there was no adjustment necessary.

For my Desk Pens, because I don't actually use desk pens as such, I carry them in their "kimonos" slip into Quiver penholders that attach to my notebook.

Ah, clickie... I have a boy who follows me and carries a velvet pillow upon which lie my pens du jour.

If he drops them, I kick his puppy.

Would that be next to a Derringer-shaped traveling inkwell? :)

Didn't Mae West have a great line that would be appropriate right now????

Her best lines were all cut. There was a US censor board.

She came out of Comedy burlesque when she was 35, when it came out she was an ancient 42 old sex bomb, her career died.

Burlesque was also comedy.I think they do have the first take she ever did; where she turned around and told the director how do do comedy.

There's a pause, one, two, three; then the punch line.

At 76 she was still more sexy than Rachael Welsh, in Mira Breckenridge.

Some critic of the movie said, the movie needed more May West and less Rachael Welsh.

On a more serious (although what could be more serious than a standardized Episcopalian prayer becoming a mantra) and practical (although what could be more practical than a quick painless way of purging impure thoughts) note, they DO make pocket clips that have collars that slip around such items as wooden pencils and Mini-Maglites.

I bring the pen in a leather case, and with two "pen pillows" on the desk I can write without fear of having the pen roll down.

How to carry a clipless pen in your pocket? I just discovered a way, hopefully. I also have Nakayas. So, I was searching online for just such a device, a sort-of cigar case with a clip, when I discovered these cases for folding reading glasses. You know, those glasses that you slip onto your nose and they magnify? Anyway, they come in these hard cases, like cigar cases, and they have a pen clip on them. They run from roughly 5" to 6 1/2" long by 1" wide and come in a myriad of colors. The added benefit is that you get a pair of reading glasses and you can choose whatever magnification you want. They're really cheap. I saw one for $4.25. I don't know if I'm allowed to say "Amazon" here. Well, I just did, but that's where to look. Fingers crossed.

To me, a clipless pen is a desk pen. Generally speaking that is. Of course there are a number of nice leather single pen pouch options around. For me, if I was going to get a pen that didn't have a clip, I would see if a roll stop was available so it wouldn't roll off the desk.

I build mostly clipless pens, but only because I haven't found any decent clips yet.

All the ones I have found so far look like something you might find on a disposable gel pen from Wal-Mart.

For this reason, the first pen I have designed myself with a view to selling a few is specifically designed not to need a clip.

It is a pocket pen that is shorter when it is closed than when it is open (like a Kaweko Sport, but nice looking :D )

The idea is that it is short enough to lie horizontally in a pocket, and thus be carried comfortably and securely.

I have also built a number of Duofold replicas, but because I can't get suitable clips, they are a pain to carry.

I have pen pockets in most of my sport coats, so I only really get to carry them when I am wearing one.

Most of the time they live on my desk at work, which is a pity.

Never thought of pens as something to 'wear,' but then I'm a girl, so I carry my pens in a pen case tucked in my purse. They're tools, not jewelry wink.gif

That's one good thing about a great looking pen or pencil, it's not only a tool, but creates a beautiful display. With some pen and pencils--almost art.

I'm now replying to myself a few posts above. The folding reading glasses arrived in their cases with attached clips. Very attractive - black with a silver clip. The interior is about 5 5/8". And, though oval in shape, the opening is wide enough for average width pens, but not fatties. I feel that - for me, at least - that the clipless-pen-carrying problem is solved.

I've read but not used one of those pen cases you wear kind of like a necklace. Might be an option. All my pens have clips save a Kaweco AL Sport which I put in my pants pocket.

Franklin-Christoph makes a pen holder that is worn around the neck. I have one and find it a little short - i.e., I don't like where it hits on the chest when I am just sitting around in class. However, I have not had a pen fall out of it when I've used it.

I have three clipless pens: a Stipula Passporto (I have a short pen case that fits it, and then it can go in a pocket if necessary); a Franklin-Christoph 02, and an Edison Extended Mina. The latter two are riding in my five-pen leather wrap, which can then go into my purse or messenger bag (or in the aforementioned pen holder).

I don't wear clipless pens, nor carry clipless exclusively, so a Visconti two or three pen case carries any clipless and usually those with clips although one of the latter may be clipped to a shirt pocket or placket. Most commonly all pens are in the case(s) so clip or not does not arise as an issue.
