Ebonite Vs Celluloid Vs Acrylic

I like ebonite, celluloid and acrylic equally. Lately I've been more inclined to ebonite for the feel, but one shouldn't look down on *good* acrylic.

I think overall though, my favourite pen material is casein. Nothing comes close to it for depth.

Celluloid: the depth, the tactility, the smell... it's intoxicating. That said, it tends to warp and shrink more than the other two.

Ebonite I find can be a bit dull and shows up machining marks worse than the others. That said, it ages well, is warm to the touch, and can look lovely if properly polished.

Acrylic can be pretty (check out Conway Stewart's modern acrylics), it is the most reliable (won't shrink or warp), but it also has neither smell nor soul.

Given the choice (and ignoring long-term reliability), I'll take celluloid.

Too many pens; too little writing.
