You guys don't know what you are talking about, it's all about the THIRD one! (But they are all pretty indeed)

Oh my poor wallet; the credit cards are melting, the leather is weeping.

#1 and #3 are spectacular in my eyes, but all are very nice!

These are absolutely stunning, Mary. I prefer, 1,2, and 4. I'll bet I can't afford any of them, unfortunately.

Any rough pricing available yet?

I like the understated elegance of the second one and the color and motif of the third.

All stunning.

I admire the craftsmanship on each of them, but I don't like maki-e pens in general.

I could live with number two, demure, understated.

Strangely if we would be talking about a tray or a jewelry-box or such I would like it, but not in pens.

Thank you all for your great feedback and positive comments concerning the 2011 Maki-e prototypes.

Here are pictures of a few previous Maki-e pens we have launched:

#1 does it in terms of craftmanship for me, but I'd probably buy #2 of the bunch.

I'd certainly like a plain black barrelled pen with that lovely orange cap though....

This one for pure historical reverence [although I currently have no idea what the characters in bright red spell out, I'd have to investigate their meaning first] and one I'd keep by my side to use primarily at home...

... and this one for pure elegance, for show, for carry in my dress shirt pocket when out and about on dressy occasions [i really like the gold dust and Abalone[?] pieces that give it sparkle, nicely shaped clip too]...

Knowing what I know about how they're made, the time taken to do so, I'd be out of the ballpark to buy any at all, yet still those are what I would choose if I could.

Thanks for sharing, they're very nice indeed!

The characters in bright red are the artist's signature and 00/15 indicates that it is a prototype, for a limited edition expected to number 15 pens.
