Pentel Pocket Brush- Converter Q:

I am really close to pulling the trigger and getting a Pentel Pocket Brush pen but I really don't want to fiddle with refilling carts. Has anyone found a suitable converter?

 

As always, I really appreciate the thought and input from this wonderful community,

ps- I have done a fairly exhaustive search and only have found one mention of the possibility of a Rotring converter working...

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but don't Rotring pens take a standard short international cartridge? If it will take a Rotring converter, it should take *any* standard converter that will physically fit into the barrel. The cartridges shown at JetPens don't look *quite* like short internationals, but it may be worth dropping them an e-mail and asking whether they can suggest a converter to fit the pen.

Thanks for the response. I will try and inquire with jetpens. If the Rotring converter is just a international short then I kind of doubt that it would fit in the the brush pen. The pf10 carts that it takes are fairly strange shaped. I guess I should get a syringe ready for filling.

Jetpens has a very nice lady, Elizabeth, in their Q & A Email division. No matter how ridiculous or technical the questions I ask. She has a great and accurate response back in 24 H. It's gotten to be such a Sunday thing with me, that I'm convinced she comes in on Monday saying, "I wonder what weird thing the NM guy has come up with now."

I'm impressed with their prompt and courteous replys. Let us know what the answer is, Jim

The pentel cartridge has a wide mouth. The palladium converter midge work. I have both and will check when I go home.

Platinum converter. Here in China Platinum pens like the Preppy have the option of a slider converter like what come with a Parker or Hero pen. This converter has an extra big opening and takes some pushing to get it on but then it is on tight. This would be the same size as the converter that Goulet Pen and Jetpens sell.

 

So get a Platinum converter.

I live in China and the Pentel brush is pretty much the best on the market. I am not sure about the market in Japan, Hong Kong or Korea. From what I can tell almost all of the pre-inked brushes come from Japan. Though I did find piston filling brushes in China.

I am using a platinum converter in my Pentel pocket brush pen. The converter has a metal trim ring that needs to be removed, but it slides off with finger-pressure. It's a tight fit--this converter was not made for this pen--but it works. A little silicone grease inside the mouth of the converter will help it go in easier. I've been using mine over 6 months and it's working fine.

Buy an ink cartridge filler syringe, not a medical syringe (not controllable).  Do this, if you are too thrifty to buy the cartridges - but the cartridges aren't that expensive.

Cartridge converters don't work.  Smart move by Pentel, though I'm willing to adapt a converted, following Jonny_J's advice, because I want to vary inks.
