Gee, no one mentioned Skrip Burgundy. I love it. Very, very wine-esque.

I was able to snag a bottle at a local art store---the OLD inkwell bottle that's impossible for me to open. :roflmho:

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

All of my old metal-capped ink bottles are impossible for me to open. I've twisted them, banged on the edges on the lid, twisted again, and put them all back into the closet. Methinks they are all corrosive.

How does Noodler's Burgundy compare with their Australian Roses ink or Diamine Syrah?

Try running a bit of hot water over the metal lid (be careful not to scald yourself...). Oft this causes the metal to expand just that little bit to allow you to grip it with a dry towel and twist it away. Be wary for any accidental spillage though.

You might also want to give the guy a nice ultrasonic bath.

I have been looking for an ultrasonic cleaner. They used to be very common, available at the local drug store. We used them to clean our Rapidograph pens back in the 70's. They were available because people used them to clean dentures and jewelry. One of the guys in graduate school also used them on parasitic worm specimens to clean the particulate matter off the mouth of parasitic worms before they were processed for electron microscopy.

I'll check amazon.com.

Go all the way. Get some of the De Atrementis wine-variety of inks. They have a wine smell. One of the owners of Art Browns said that they had an Italian wine-maker in the store who checked each bottle and could, correctly tell them which wine the ink was modeled on.

Got my yama-budo (and about 6 others) in today. Initially, on the paper, it doesn't look like something a bounty hunter would use. But once it has dried, it looks a bit darker and more manly, more like a burgundy than a lavender or violet. I like it.

I've been using the Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses with a Bexley stub. It is definitely at the top of my list for a burgundy (purple, not brown) ink. I like Noodler's Burgundy as well.

I still regard the Diamine Syrah as more of a brown.
