  1. 1. How many trades do you think it will take me to get to the Pelikan M1000?

Parker 45 Review

Hi Group,

I just posted the Parker 45 review here a moment ago: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/202209-parker-45-review/. I received this pen with the Waterman Kulture as part of the 3rd trade I made. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Conklin Endura Review

Hi Group,

I just posted the Conklin Endura review here a moment ago: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/202774-conklin-endura-review/. I received this pen as part of the 4th trade I made. Check it out and let me know what you think.

This review signals that I'm ready for my next trade. I've posted the WTT ad in the classifieds here: WTT Conklin Endura. So anyone who wants to trade can post here and we can discuss the details of the next trade. It will be a tearful goodbye to this pen, as I loved it quite a bit! :)

If you started your trade-ups with a rare pen, worth at least $100-150, you might have a chance, because there would be a rarity factor that could justify a trade-up in your direction.

Otherwise, there will be a gap at a point when trade-ups will become very difficult.

Well, good luck anyway.

I'm not sure about that. He started out with a Chinese pen that sells for just a few dollars and in four trades got a Conklin that sells around $90 (from hisnibs.com). It may take more than 12 trades, but I believe he's going to get there.

+ 1 on that!

I think that with the Conklin he made his point of no return. From this one he can only go up to his final goal! So please all you owners of all those lovely pens you will probably never use, just have them sitting in some drawer... Give this guy a chance!

Anyone interested in trading for this beauty? It has the original packaging. All reasonable trades are considered :) Let me know either in this thread or via PM. Thanks guys.

Cool thread..... personally I think you can do it. I've traded a lot of stuff on boards, matter of fact, I rarely buy anything, I just trade. Sometimes I trade up, but sometimes I trade down too....it just depends on what I want and whether I like the item I have. I have traded down a couple really nice items because I liked the cheaper ones much more. Seriously....what's 10-20 bucks if you don't like it? Matter of fact, my one favorite pens (an Aurora Talentum) I traded for a Waterman Carene that I got for a sweet deal....that's a big trade up, but I didn't like the Carene, and it was exactly what someone who didn't like their Talentum was looking for.

Good luck to you...and I'll be watching in case you get something I like more than some of my pens!

sense tells us that our existence is but a brief

Awesome! Thanks for following. I like your stories about your trades. It gives me more confidence even though, at this point, I seem to have lost momentum. I love the Conklin Endura, but I would like to keep the game going by trading it away. :)

Have you tried an M1000 yet? You might like the Conklin more than the Pel. I sold my Pel to fund my next JEB pen. jebspens.com

...and I don't miss the pel one little bit.

Here's my Nazca.

And here's my next one - the Dhaulagiri - haven't gotten it yet - he's waiting on bits to make a pencil to go with it!!

I don't blame you. I'd sell my other pens off if I had anything worth selling to buy more JEB pens.

They look stunning! I'm going to check those out for sure.

I have used an M1000 and it is just awesome. I have an M600 that I use alot and I can only imagine using the M1000 more often would be awesome. :) I like large pens.

Watch_art: If you don't mind me asking, what was the ballpark price of the green Jebpen? I like the shape, but would get it in the yellow color that you got your second one in.

Good news everyone! jotterius and I have agreed to trade pens. I am trading the Conklin Endura with box and papers for a used Green Pelikan M200 with a flexible nib! Wow, what a trade. This should be exciting to use. Now I'll have to learn some copper plate so that I can review it properly. :)

Update: On 9/14 the Conklin Endura left its happy home here in Massachusetts to go to its new owner in Greece. Now I play the waiting game to get my next pen which I think will be a ton of fun to write with. I started practicing my copperplate in anticipation of this Pelikan M200 with Fine Flex nib. :)

FPN,

I received my Marbled Blue Pelikan M200 today with M nib. Although the previous owner thought it was a flexible nib, one look at the nib told me that it was actually the stock steel nibs that Pelikan uses. Am I a little disappointed? Yes. But, I cannot complain because it was still a good trade for the following reasons:

1. Marbled Blue seems to be a hard to find or discontinued color for this pen.

2. The cheapest I could find the pen new for was $92. The Conklin Endura that I traded for it was worth $58 new.

So, I think no matter what, it is a great deal and I will have fun writing with it for a little bit before I trade it away :)

Reminds me of the guy on the 'bay a few years ago that started out by selling a paperclip and ended up with a house in Canada. I do not recall how many trades were involved but it was an interesting story.
