  1. 1. How many trades do you think it will take me to get to the Pelikan M1000?

but you do gotta tell us what you traded for it and a pic of your WS would be cool too!

That's the red Wing Sung in a side-by-side comparison with another Wality eyedropper pen, very similar to the Airmail pen that I traded.

And here's the actual pen I sent. . .

This reminds me of the guy who either started with a paperclip or doorknob, and traded his way up to a house. I forget who or how, but that I know that it's been done. Good luck!

Yes, the paper clip trading guy does seem. . . vaguely. . . familiar. . . somehow. . .

This reminds me of a true story I once read, where some guy (sumgai?) went from a red paper clip to a house in 20 trades. If he could do that, you should be able to get to an M1000 in far fewer.

EDIT: Never mind. On re-reading this thread, I see that the red paper clip story was already brought up.

A member kindly offered to trade the two pens shown below for my Airmail 69TS. It seemed like a great trade, and I had not tried either of these pens before. So I agreed. I am not eagerly awaiting these pens to "cross the pond" so that I can review them for you folks.

So what do you think of this trade? Any ideas for inks I should test? I was going to stay with Noodler's Heart of Darkness to keep things uniform throughout the trade process...

Any comments anyone? Anything in particular I should look out for in my review?

The Stypen looks heavy and imbalanced. Also, the transition between barrel and section looks pretty severe. Interested to see if it feels as bad as it looks (to me!)...

It's made almost completely of plastic and isn't heavy in the least, actually - I have a Bic Turn and Up which is the same pen with different branding. I haven't particularly noticed the section step on it, but equally I haven't used mine much. I bought it more as a curiosity than anything.

Ditto, I also have a Stypen. I got it at a stationery store in France years and years ago...it's a neat little pen, with a twist-up nib so it's tiny when capped and fits in a very small pocket.

Not fancy at all, but I bought it when I was still new to fountain pens and liked it enough to keep it for sentimental value.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm having trouble finding a converter to fit the Stypen UP. I have several sizes, but the one I used leaked for some reason. Does anyone have experience with this pen?

Also, I'm thinking of using some other color besides Noodler's HoD in the Wearever. Anyone have any advice? I have basically any color you can think of and can make any color (i bought CYMK colors in noodlers, plus I have whiteness of the white whale)

Thanks for the advice,

Jonathan
