The Best Eye Dropper Fountain Pen

The Platinum Preppy isn't half bad for what it is -- they last about half a year each and have really nice flow (on the wet side) and never leak.

I've been using a Recife Crystal for years. I've never had it leak, it writes well enough that I use it frequently. The price wasn't too outrageous and I still they can still be bought from Skripta in Paris for 75Euros. I didn't look to see if that was with VAT or not.

Unless you take into the fact that the threads on the body sometimes crack, running the risk of getting ink all over you and your clothes.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have quite a few Preppys with different color inks in them. One or two of the barrel caps cracked and one of the barrels with ink cracked just sitting in the pen cup. However, they are at least 2 years old and I think the high UV here in the NM desert shortens the life of plastics (and also rubber bands!). Wrapped the end caps with tape (works as a quick fix), but had to 'retire' the cracked barrel one.

If I may add my 1¢? What I look for most in eyedroppers is a tie between aesthetic/design and performance. I do not want it to burp/drip much, but also write the way I like with various inks.

I filled a Mabie Todd Swan 1500 on Friday (November 6th) and used it at work over the weekend and at college today, with not a single drop occurring. I was very surprised as it had an unfortunate habit of doing so in the past. Delightful to write with.

I have also used a smaller sized Mabie Todd Swan Safety Screw cap number 2 and that is by far my favorite. The feed may let out a drop fairly consistently when it is almost empty, but it fits a goulet ink sample perfectly. (As does the inksight pen).

There are a few others I've not mentioned, but I don't want this comment to be too long or off topic.

I have the Noodlers Charlie pen and a handful of platinum preppies that are eye droppers. I like these alright. They're alittle on the skinny side for me

And this is my best and inexpensive eyedropper.... Made in India....

For more details check my review .... WALITY 71JT

I saw quite a few eyedropper pens from India listed on eBay at affordable prices which is good as I like to have several pens with different color inks loaded at all times to satisfy the artist in me :) The clear barrel types seem most practical to keep track of ink level. Will order 1 or 2 to test sometime. I was previously unaware of pens made in India. You learn something every day on the Internet.
