Does Your Ink Color Match Your Pen Color?

No, I haven't found any pens I like that match inks I like that also don't cost over a grand.

I actually have a red ink in my red 78G ( B ) right now but only because that happens to be my default pen when testing a new ink.

I choose the ink to suit the pen - my Visconti Homo Sapiens is inked with Diamine Monaco Red, feels like I'm writing with lava :ltcapd:

Somehow matching the ink to the pen a useful mnemonic as well as a matter of aesthetics. I've found that some combinations of pen to ink colour (especially when viewing the pen against a filled page) can be a bit stomach-turning, while others are rather pleasing. For example, I like having purple ink in a grey pen. As for reds or greens, they go only in pens of the same colour.

Yes, I try to match pen and ink color. It's just too visually jarring to have green ink coming out of a purple pen. :gaah: Besides, if I don't match colors, I'll never remember what ink is in a particular pen.

I have my own "rules" for when I'll accept coordinating colors instead of strictly matching: Black, grey, or clear pens can have any color. Yellow, orange, and browns are all inter-mixable. Red pens can have brown inks too.

always try to color co-ordinate pen and ink hue. I even c used to concoct my own particularly in the burgundy bordeaux color style which i am fond of. however FPN's tulip noire is much better than any i've done. Great color ink.

mix and matcgh, like the ladies with their dresses, hats accessories and shoes ;-)

yes indeed, f/p's inks and everything connected, is a bit of an obsession. As my son when he was very young used to say:

the plastic ink stic sicko's

never been able to infect the boys nor the mrs with the f/p0 bug and not for lack of trying.

may you have better luck than me in passing on the love of pen and ink to your progeny

I do some of the time. It looks really cool in the transparent orange, pink and blue Sailor Sapporo or Pro Gear demonstrator pens. Diamine Orange is nice in the orange pen,if anyone else is looking for a match for that one.

I have never really done the matching thing, but I have four Esties and, based on this thread, decided it would be an easy visual to match ink with barrel, so I won't have to think too hard about the ink color when I grab a pen (I usually have 7-10 pens inked at a time). So here's my Estie experiment - I think I have pretty close matches to the pens:

Green J - Noodler's Green Marine

Copper J - Sailor Red Brown

Black J - Aurora Black

Blue LJ- PR American Blue

The ink color in each case is almost an exact match to the barrel. I kinda like this experiment. David

I don't worry too much about matchy-matchy, but I like inks that 'go' with the pen. That said, I'm about to load my green pen with purple ink...not sure if it will go or not, but I want to use the pen and the ink :)

I try to match mine, there is something aesthetically pleasing about the ink complementing the pen colour. Although one of the (many) things I like about my CP8 is that being silver, almost any ink matches it.

No, I don't match pen and ink color. The color ink I use is the one that struck my fancy at the time. For me, there are far too many beautiful colors available to limit myself to matching ink to pen color.

Black pen, black ink and clear pen (what doesn't work with a demonstrator?). Yeah not that difficult on my end :P

What would you put in a clear demonstrator? Noodler's Blue Ghost?

I often use an ink color that compliments the pen color (I think Green and Brown work well together, for instance).

I used to try matching colours then after a while I found out that it was getting out of hands...I was becoming very picky and sensitive (an unwanted behaviour modification, if I may say so :P)... pulled myself together and.... now sometimes I try to use ink which is in direct contrast with my pen's colour... :vbg:

Though a clear demonstrator solves the problem :)

Wouldn't you need invisible ink for that? :)

Besides, if I don't match colors, I'll never remember what ink is in a particular pen.

I use 3x5 index cards - list the pen/colour and indicate what ink is currently in it.

I don't match my inks to the colours of my pens, but my wife does. She has Hope Pink in her pink Safari, but that's the only matched ink/pen combo we have at the moment.

None of the pens I have match the colours of the ink I have.
