Pictures Of The New Visconti Michelangelo

I've read that these pens have 18 sides. I've also read that the rose gold might be bronze. Also saw that MSRP is $395.

I wish the blue-black resin came with the rose gold trim, the layers of subtlety might make more of an impression.

Yes, the pen is faceted, 18 sides. (Visconti says 36, because they count 18 for the barrel + 18 for the cap).

There are made in two colors, blue-black and deep black. And, yes, it's bronze finished (not rose gold).

This picture above (and others) are described in my website

Thanks for the clarification Susanna. A faceted pen is a little more interesting, but uggh on the metal section. I think I'll stick with old-style and vintage Omas piston-fillers.

Speaking of which does that mean we should say -- after all these years of referring them as 12-sided -- that the faceted Omas pens (modern and vintage), the Wahl Doric and the Aurora Novum have 24 sides?

i personally am a sucker for simple design, and this design is right up my alley. i think the faceted body is an unique touch though i have no idea if i will prefer it until i have held it in my hands and used it. i am in the market for a rollerball pen that can take fontain pen ink and since this pen comes in eco roller form, i might have one in my hands soon!

Please check out my blogshop for fountain pens and inks at http://inkoholicanonymous.blogspot.com/ Reviews of my pens can be found there too!

Prices seem to be in the same range as the Opera black.

The multifaceted part makes it more interesting, which effect is immediately destroyed by the metal section.

I don't dislike this pen. But I do doubt I will ever buy one. There is just something left to be desired, and considering why I love Italian pens, suave expressive style and usually brilliant colours, I would look to other manufacturers for a pen like this.

.... and they're not all black:

one is black, with bronze finishing:

but one is dark blue, with palladium finishing:

This pen in black/bronze is on my shopping list, at first I thought it was a boring design, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. Shame, that it seems not to work with the MyPen system...

  • 3 weeks later...

Am I the only person in the world who actively likes these pens??? :crybaby:

When the UK Visconti agent showed me the promo photos for these I fell in love instantly - I love the classic, understated design and I think the 18 faceted sides will catch the light beautifully. I think I've slowly come to the realisation that I just prefer the less "blingy" pens!

It certainly isn't the best that Visconti have produced in terms of design, but I'm going to be picking one up when we get them into the shop. I've been considering picking up a Rembrandt as a cheaper f/pen and getting the nib re-ground to an itallic, but the Michelangelo just about wins it for me between the two.

I'm sure there must be at least one other person. ;)

Between the Rembrandt and the Michelangelo, I'd think I'd take the Michelangelo as well based solely on the photos.

But for me C/C faceted pen with a metal section isn't that interesting; I have plenty of 12-sided vintage and modern Omases. But as long as you like it, then go for it.

Ouch! Not an auspicious beginning for this model's FPN reputation. Sorry to hear the news, and best of luck in the resolution.

I just spoke with Visconti head office in Florence, and they told me that the Michelangelo is not available, yet.

They confirmed they didn't ship anything to shops - only samples to salesmen.

You probably received a prototype: this may be the reason why it doesn't work...

:hmm1: I just saw one at my local shop on Saturday. It was the special version for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.

Boh! Molto strano.
