Id 1980S Novelty Pen/pencil Combo

Hi,

I have a combo pen/pencil, very slender, about the same width as the Pilot Birdy ball pen, with "Pencil Furi Furi Ball Pen Japan SBF 55 500" stamped near the clip of the red body. I purchased it new in 1982 at a shop in Radnor, PA.

Since I paid less than $5.00 for it new, I assume that it was produced primarily as a novelty item for export and not for serious writing in their domestic market: Is this a correct assumption?

its like a checkbook, purse, dayplanner pen. There are a few other modern version out there, but the makers escape me at the moment.

interesting. very unique. i would assume such design (being that it is very slim) is mainly for their domestic sales in japan, for a specific market. it could very well be a limited design that happens to make it outside japan. then again, i could be wrong.
