Beautiful handwriting. Congratulations. Could you post the complete page?

Thank you. :)

What do you mean by "the complete page"?

Wow your handwriting is amazing...where did you learn how to write like that?

Thank you :)

I practice while note-taking in school. Holding the pen the right way eliminates cramping-- I used to come out of exams trying to shake the pain off of my hand, but now that I stopped digging my nails into my palm, everything is more fluid.. Did that answer your question?

Yes but where did you learn how to make your letters look that nice? Is there a certain book or website that shows how to write in that style? I really like it!

I learned from looking at examples of David Harris, Brian Walker, Jean Larcher, Declaration of Independence, old letters, Abraham Lincoln, John Hancock, American Girl (Samantha's books) etc.. lol

Look around and see what you like!

In your original post, there was a handwriting exemplar in a full page, but it's a little too small. It would be nice to see the details. Very, very nice handwriting, Hana. I hope one day I would write like that.

Oh, that! It's really small in real life, just about how you'd see it on the monitor, I think. I was too excited to take a good photo (actually, I'm just not a good photographer  ) I'll scan another writing sample if you'd like-- I used the small writing sample page as scratch paper, and scribbled all over it.

I suppose it would be too much to see your letter to Richard? Your handwriting is an inspiration. I especially like the idea that it is handwriting and not caligraphy (in the sense of inscriptions/presentations etc. O dear, I am in danger of getting in some sort of terminalogical tangle here...)

Oh yeah, I totally agree-- my writing is too casually presented to be called "calligraphy."

The letter I wrote to Richard-san may be called "calligraphy," though. You'll have to ask him about seeing it.. I scanned a copy just in case it got lost in the mail, but it's not in this computer.

Thank you for the compliments.

Thanks, it's been my pleasure. It's the ringtop in the pic. The Mabie Todd dip pen is also a new addition to the family, but I don't know when it's from..

Oooh, what a sweet little ringtop!

Thanks for posting the photo, Hana (and that dip pen looks great...)

I can't believe how many posts I've read about all-metal pens in the last half hour here on FPN! (they're one of my collecting foci)

  • 2 weeks later...

I've finally been able to sit down and scan the snail Hana sent to me. She wrote this using the Swan. The image here is unretouched, and I've scaled it to be life size at 72 dpi.

All I can say is that this young woman is so good it's scary.

Hana, thank you for giving me the opportunity to play with your pen! I really did enjoy it, and I'm very happy that it's turned out so well for you.

(Oh, and yes, the line at the bottom is readable block-letter text.)

I refilled the Swan with MB Bordeaux after filling it with Noodler's Black several times, and the lines are even more crisp! *.* (I bet I can write smaller block-letters now!) Is it just me, or do others have problems with Noodler's Black laying thicker lines?

Also, I noticed my Swan nibs are very sensitive to highly saturated inks (PR, Noodlers) -- the nibs get discolored, but it can be easily wiped off. Left alone, though, the nib turns blue! It is a pretty shade of blue, but it sure scared me at first! (Came off with toothpaste) I wonder why these things happen.

Thank you very much for the compliment. :D
