The Most Elegant You Ever Saw..

When in doubt, the LBD always works.

Hmm. I think that more than half the world's population would look pretty ridiculous in an LBD. :hmm1:

Good point. And one that sparked a few images that I could have done without.

Montblanc Greta Garbo!

It's the pen that turned me into a fountain pen user and started all this madness.

... A modern elegant pen is the Waterman Edson.

Translucent charcoal body, stiff inlaid nib, frosted platinum plated cap with gleaming platinum plated art deco clip.

Hot damn, that really is a seriously nice pen! Streamlined, elegant, with just the right amount of embellishments. Simply the nicest Edson variant I've seen.

Still one of my favorites - not super luxe or anything - but definitely fits the elegant bill: Levenger's Isaac Newton fountain pen. Great shape and the logo on the cap is awesome. Got one from my wife when I passed my test to become a licensed Architect but also got an MB 149. I thought it would be crazy to own two fountain pens so I sent the Newton back. I hope to one day get another.

I don't have the fountain pen, I have the Isaac Newton gold-plated roller ball. It is quite pretty, but seriously heavy, more than is comfortable for me. I thank you for mentioning this pen, since I couldn't remember the name of the pen until now.

modern aurora 88 with metal cap.....either vermeil or chrome

Many pens mentioned here are beautiful, classic pens. But...in the shirtpocket....they can look & feel clumsy. Modern Auroras are big in the hand and small in the pocket. In fact, the barrel of the 88 large FP is the same length as a MB 149. Yet they sit unobtrusively and securely in the pocket.

They are very high quality pens with a great pedigree. They also manage to look modern while clearly adhering to their unique lineage....retaining a sleek "retro" look. They are light in the hand and in the pocket, have a superb nib & piston mechanism and have fantastic Italian curves. No excess bulk or ornamentation of any kind.

Completely hand made in the Aurora factory, including the nib.

All in all, a most elegant pen.

The Most Elegant You Ever Saw.. Khm?

I'm not sure that is a satisfactory answer. What is elegance?

Elegant pen?

Rather human writening the pen can be elegant or not.

E.g. I like black, great, masculine pen. I have thought about this: elegant. Does the same pen is elegant in hands delikate blond girl? :hmm1: But this blond girl turnes into woman - she is still blonde, but disappeare delikate. The woman is now a big fish in bussines. The same black masculine pen looks better again in her hand.

The elegant pen is this, which is exactly matched to the writer.

To me, the epitome of an elegant, timeless fountain pen is the P75 in black laque.

Beautiful and sophisticated: Modern Duofold in Jade.

And elegant in the sense of engineering solution: the P25

Elegance is a subjective quality. In terms of artistic elegance, I don't think anyone has topped a Ferrari da Varese LE I once saw:

The intricate bright green enamel just strikes me as phenomenal.

The most elegant minimalist/utilitarian pen IMHO is the Tombow 505 (AKA Zoom). It's available as a fountain pen in Europe but I think the rollerball is the only pen that implements a rubber grip without disturbing its aesthetic character:

Wahl-Eversharp made some of the most beautiful (i.e. elegant) pens ever created between the years 1925-1943 (+/- a few years).

Consider the Coronet, one pen I'm still trying to acquire.

I love the Deco-band---an oversized pen with interchangeable nibs.

But probably my favorite pen(s) as a design, and a pen that seems to get attention from those who don't even collect pens, is the Wahl Doric. It's a pen that anyone can own. These are not limited editions, but pens that were created for the people.

When I got back into FP's a few years ago, as long as I can recall I've thought the Cross Century Classic I was very elegant and a classic iconic American fountain pen. So I bought one in near mint shape. Sure thought I had pics of it but I don't, these are snarfled from Fleabay.

A little thin for me really, but a beautiful classic design that is a great writer.

Parker 51, an understated and elegant example of streamlined design of its time. It also happens to work.

I have had one of these for 31 years and it's pretty good also. I started to use it again when I found the ballpoint refills for the Select Tip pen.

Love those curves! And the grey colour of the second is particularly classy.

This Conway Stewart Oxford struck me as being very elegant:

The 1950s-1960s vintage Kaweco Sport (piston filler, with a slightly more tapered shape) I find to be elegant in the completeness of its functionality; if only it were available as a metal-bodied version... http://www.kaweco-pen.com/img/global/kaweco-sport-historie.pdf pp 12,13,15

Amazing how many consider the M149 as elegant.......I am sure that it is a good pen, however the word that springs to mind when thinking of that (and it's smaller siblings) is "vulgar" - likely due to having seen so many "bling-bling" types with that particular pen as their visible "look-at-me-I-am-fancy" status symbol.

I think that the MB Starwalker is elegant, in the mystery black version. I am also VERY partial to the Waterman Exception and absolutely consider the Waterman Edson elegant....loving the 125 year LE version, as well as the colored green/blue/red/black ones.

Most elegant..........nah, can't pick one over the other.
