MB 146 Solitaires, especially the sterling silver in barleycorn finish

Stop that you are killing me here. I promise myself not to buy another MB this year because I haven't even ink the ceramic 146 yet due to too many pens in rotation.

Nice pen !!

This topic -- and the photos in the replies are mind boggling (to say nothing of potentially budget busting!)

I nominate in no particular ranking but as stream-of-consciousness:

[*]Pelikan Toledo (especially the red and the yellow)

[*]Parker T-1 (would go so nice with my Pilot MYU)

[*]Parker blue marbelized Duofold set (to complement my burgundy set)

also I like regularly ogling offerings at FPH vintage and back room pages!

It's the classic Wahl-Eversharp Coronet with black Pyralin inserts from around 1936 - 38....just gorgeous to look at and admire all the fine detailing....and it writes smooth as buttah too!!!

Same here, it's been my workhorse every day since I got my M90's. I've only given them a rest recently with my Pelikan m600. I've also had to send one off, as i accidentally injured the nib. Not enough to be seen, but the M90 wasn't as smooth as it was. So, i'm down to one for now till its brother comes back from the shop.

Pilot's M90 and the original 701.

I had just been dabbling in fountain pens, buying very inexpensive ones and only using them sporadically when I stumbled across a photo of the M90. Took my breath away. I had to have one. When I finally got it, it pushed me over the line that separates "dabbler" and "obsessed." I have a larger assortment of nicer pens now, but my two M90s and my one original 701 still catch my breath when I look at them.

That Coronet is beautiful!

Anything with a wide or triple bands with a solid color (or a subtle celluloid) reeks classy to me (and not Jersey Shore classy either)

I bet you couldn't afford it back then as a poor, poor Architect in a cramped drafting studio. After all, the drawing instruments took priority over pensroflmho.gif.

I think Japanese makie laquer pens are so elegant.

Someday I will own one.

Here's a Sailor Chrysanthemum:

Wow, that one is gorgeous! Dreaming of that one with a Sailor music nib...

I also find this S. T. Dupont pen very elegant though surely not everybody's taste:

Plus in my opinion S. T. Dupont gets too little perception anyway (though their service unfortunately doesn't deserve it).

Also most of the Montegrappa celluloid pens have a very elegant look for my taste, for example the extra 1930 in dark green:

+1 for the Greta Garbo, another very elegant pen. In my opinion being a plain black cigar with some gold attached just isn't enough to make a pen elegant. It just needs the perfectly right amount of "bling" - but I'm sure not everyone will share this point of view. :-D

First, Parker 51. Second Aslan's Collier variation of the Edison #76. I liked it so much I had to order one. And yes, to me the 51 is sooooo classy and elegant.
