What an excellent idea: a revised updated skillful tutorial!

Well, I just spent parts of two (2) days and far too much time trying to post photos to a classified ad, with absolutely no luck. So yes, a current, up to date step by step procedure on how to do that from flickr and the like, would certainly be great. I have given up on posting it.

I'm sure it's just dumb ol' me, as there are many nice pictures with the ads, but mine just aren't among them.

So any help at this stage, would certainly be nice.

Rant over.

Definitely not just you. I have managed to post pictures, but it usually takes several attempts before I manage to do it correctly. I can't give you much help, but I think you need to use the "reply to this topic" link at the top of page, rather than the reply box at the bottom of the page.

Little help please.

I am trying to upload/attach a picture from my Flickr account. I grab the code from there and when I paste it here, a box with a question mark appears telling me that that file extension is not allowed. I am using jpeg.

I have dreamt of the day where I am holding a Waterman Carene. Sigh... seems too distant I can only see the fog far away.

Can't figure how to attach a JPG file picture for a post I would like to do after reading the instructions.

Is there an attachment link above here that I select? Thanks.

Modern cameras create large photos. It's courteous to only post thumbnails (very small versions of images), and to allow people to click on your image if they want to see the photo in its original quality. To do this, you will create a link with an image in place of the usual anchor text.

Many photo hosting websites will generate a thumbnail for you automatically.

 • Open Windows Notepad (or equivalent text editor on your computer).
 • Upload your amazing photos to your favorite photo hosting website.
 • Select the URL that it gives you for your full quality image. Copy/paste it into notepad.
 • There should be a smaller image displayed as well. Right-click and choose "Copy image address". Paste the thumbnail URL into notepad.
 • Copy/paste this line into Notepad:

 • Replace the URLs in the example with the ones your gathered in previous steps, as appropriate.
 • Create a forum post in the full editor "More Reply Options", and click the light switch button at the top-left of the panel.
 • Copy/paste in the line from Notepad into the editor.
 • Hit "Preview Post"
 • Your small image should now appear in your post, and when you hover over it, you will see the full image URL in the status bar at the bottom-left corner of your browser. If you click the thumbnail, the full image will open.

is there a limit beyond which i can post no more photos directly from my hard drive?

up to now I have posted photos easily using the more reply options, browse and attach this file

I usually take care to reduce the size of photos to half Mb approx

recently I am no longer able to upload files this way, I always get a this upload failed error

where is the problem?

thanks

Ditto. I haven't been able to post any photos on fpn for about four months except in the classifieds section. What do I have to do to fix this?
