Akkerman Inks From The Netherlands

Recommended Posts

I , too , have exchanged e-mails with Mr Rutte.

He has quoted €€13 for shipping up to 3 bottles of Akkerman ink.

A quick comparison on cost:-

3 bottles of akkerman including shipping comes out at €€62.50 - approximately £52.50

That gets me 450ml of ink.

To buy 450ml of J Herbin ink (15 standards bottles) from The Writing Desk including p&p works out at £87.25

Suddenly the €€13 shipping costs don't seem so bad.

Just my two pennorth.

I think Paul has revised his shipping suppliers since my initial contact with him, I hope all the ink buyers enjoy their new acquisitions. I'm looking forward to mine.

The total price including shipping for 3 bottles TNT is confirmed at 73.90 Euros which converts to $101.10 USD. However, I also believe there is a bank wire fee I willl have to pay that I think is another $10-15. So you have to really want these if living in the USA.

Edit: Yeah, just confirmed with my bank that a telephone wire transfer (if you have previously done one, and have a signed form on file at a branch) if sent in a foreign currency like the Euro costs $10.00, but if you send a transfer in USD currency, they charge you $12.00 which is apparently higher because they have to do a currency conversion calculation....oh the burden on our poor banks.

They do not allow wire transfers to be done with online banking. Either telephone or in person.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

That works out to $6.65/oz shipped to the USA, if I've done my math right. All in all, that's not bad.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

Today I bought 3 bottles, two for epo (nrs. 9 and 16), and one for myself (nr. 11). If you want the ethymology of the names, please let me know.

I will try to review this ink shortly.

Best regards, Tim

Actually, $7.40 per oz when you use my actual total of $111 as noted in previous post. ($111÷3 bottles) ÷ 5 oz per 150ml bottle

guys, the shape of those bottles is simply BRILLIANT! The designer must be a genius, not only because he managed to create a shape that allows to collect almost until the last drop of ink, but also because he created a really beautiful design! I've rarely seen practical bottles that also look nice! MB's bottles, for example, are excellent to collect the ink, but their design is questionable....

Are designers' always "he"?.

I don't normally care about the bottles at all, but those are really cool! I would definitely buy one or two of those! Too bad the website doesn't have an English button so I could read it.

Sean,

If you search for PW Akkerman in google just under the site listing there is a link that says "translate this page" click on it and you get a passable translation that is a bit awkward but understandable.

Dave

Thanks, that will help!

Nope. But the one who designed these bottles is.

Two of the bottles are on it's wat to Scotland. One I have bought for myself (boy, do I have enough ink!).

I have written a small review. Sinse I have no technical knowledge of ink, it has turned out a user's review

Best regards, Tim

Nice review Tim. I can't justify the cost now for the ink but maybe in the future.

A 150 ml bottle is € 16,50, which is net very expensive.

Yes, with shipping it becomes a little costly. I should go through some of my inks before purchasing this particular ink.

Does anyone know if these can be purchased at the Amsterdam airport (Schippel)?

I'd like to find an American company that would be willing to start stocking this product. They'd quickly make a lot of money (a fair amount from me!)

Got my bank wire done today for the 3 bottles. BTW, the USA bank I deal with needed more address information than I got from Paul. Four phone calls and 30 mins later, we finally figured everything out. I gave him a line by line of what our bank transfer form needed by email. If anyone else is thinking of ordering and you don't get extra address info for his bank and Akkerman's store, you can PM me for it. It was only because I knew the bank manager that they jumped through extra hoops to find the information with more detailed research resources they had access to, some of which they had to call New York to get.

Interesting...I also got wire done today. However they were able to work with what Paul had sent me...Bank name, acct# and IBAN number are the key issues... out of curiousity what else did they need? (Feel free to PM if you don't think you should post any potentially sensitive bank info of theirs). I do often have to wire money to Europe and have a Banker I work with so maybe they just did all that you had to do but without my knowledge???
