Hey Akkerman fans,

Lexaf told me that Shocking Blue is a very nice colour. Well, he is right. I went to Akkerman's today and got myself a bottle. Below you can see what happened next.

By the way, the song was called 'Venus'.

I'm now at peace! Got my three bottles today (#3, 5, 9), and not only do the colors exceed my expectation and are much richer than the web swabs from OP, but these bottles are the coolest.

We need an ENVY button. Those are lovely bottles as bottles, and then all the comments about how well they are designed for FP ink. Maybe it should be a COVET button.

Oh, enjoy your inks and thanks for posting pictures for the rest of us to enjoy. My three bottles were mailed out 11 February and have not yet arrived--perhaps hung up in customs. Good thing it's sunny and pleasant here because I'm sitting by my mailbox in a folding chair waiting for the mail each day. A watched kettle never boils, I know!! Three days ago the mailman pulled up with a package and I leapt out of my chair and frightened him half to death. I have never before been disappointed to get a gardening book.

Staring at my mailbox has not worked. I also think my neighbors are getting concerned. So I left my lawn chair--it has been raining in the Blue Ridge Mountains-- and ventured down to the post office. I said, "Do you have my three bottles of ink sitting in the back somewhere?" The nice postman looked confused and said, "bottles of ink?" Yes, I said, for fountain pens. He said, "People still use fountain pens?? I didn't know they still made those!" I went home, got an umbrella and returned to my folding chair in front of my mailbox. Tomorrow it will be four weeks since Paul mailed my inks and I know they will be here any day!!!!!!

Yes, Mr. Postman, they still make fountain pens. aaaahhhhhh!

Well, thank you! Great little story; long little wait. . . but sometimes the waiting is an adventure, yes?! I'll be sure to update when the inks arrive.

Great little story!

All colour names refer to the city of The Hague (Den Haag in Dutch). The adjective of Den Haag is 'Haags'.

The Hague is commonly known in the Netherlands for having some rather posh areas. The Dutch name for (speaking) posh is 'bekakt'.

The name Bekakt Haags therefor means 'The Haguean posh'

.

That leaves us with the matter of the colour brown. The root word of bekakt is kak. And kak in Dutch in fact also means .......... pooh.

Hence the colour brown.

Regards, Tim

That's both hilarious and faintly revolting! :roflmho:

yes...but no time to do "review" I will try to get those done and posted this weekend...

had to take on some extra work duties due to an unexpected medical emergency (not mine) and needed to help a friend cover some duties at their workplace (not mine) so I currently have 2 jobs...hopefully very very short term...For a retired guy who was bored staying at home... this is getting a bit silly! :)

Good luck to your friend and a speedy recovery. No rush on the sample. Please ignore my request on the other Akkerman thread.

Hilarious, faintly revolting yes, but very original! :roflmho: I can't help to giggle every time I look at the name. :ltcapd: The color, in real life, is beautiful. A dark, nearly blackish brown, very similar to Iroshizuku's Yama-guri.

I have # 5, 10, 18, 23, 27 (I think you may have Thoppen confused with me, I think he has two if I remember correctly...and have been keeping up..(which is more likely doubtful!)

Professor Plume is perched next to mailbox eagerly awaiting colours #13, #16 and #28-- a vibrant assortment indeed. Four weeks tomorrow!

I went to the store this afternoon, and got a bottle of their ink. But it is a colour that is not on that chart and the box isn't numbered.

So i suppose they also have standard colours in those bottles too, i got a very nice dark blue...but my pen hasn't arrived yet so i can't show at the moment.

Love the service there though!
