Testing A Dip Nib "enhancer"

OK,...I finally found the winner for my tests.

The soda can aluminum was just a hair too thin for my taste and the sheet metal a bit too heavy for easy cutting. I found a very happy medium for a pen reservoir! I used the lid from a big can of Fried Onions...(generic or local grocer's brand)

 

I pulled it off a brand new can and cut my patterns and away I went! Worked just beautiful!

The added benefit of having those crispy fried onions in the pantry for snacking make it a total win for me!!!

 

The results are shown below and they all work great!

The wire funnels pictured there too are also another option that I toyed with before with mixed results.

 

The wax method did not work out for my nibs, although you can never have enough beeswax around the house! :roflmho:

 

These reservoirs all help tremendously extend my drawing time between dips so much so that I almost forget that I'm using a dip pen. Thanks to the helpful folks here at FPN for such great ideas!!

Surely we've come to the point when it's easier (but not necessarily cheaper, not that cheap was ever a stated goal the way I read it) to fabricate a reservoir attachment using a 3D printer to fit one's nib exactly?

😁I found today that I still have access to my old photos. (Top right menu - Account - My attachments.)

☹But can't edit the old posts to put the photo images back into the empty spaces.
