I am righthanded, not genetically but was made to. When my mom realized that I was beginning to use my left hand more than the right, she forced me to use the right hand (maybe she thought it was wierd). As a result, my right handwriting is really pathetic. I once tried writing with my left, and surprisingly it was much better than my right hand's writing. I still use my right hand........ struggling to improve my handwriting.

I would recommend, Jem, that you re-train yourself to write with your left hand -- and I'll happily help you in this, if you send me a Personal Message through the Fountain Pen Network!

As help meanwhile in any re-training efforts, may I recommend the following articles from my PENNANT handwriting-column?

/1/ "Left Out: the Other Ten Percent" (about and for left-handed writers) -- Fall 2007 issue

and

/2/ "Handwriting After Hand Loss: Writing Single-Handed" (written about and for hand/arm amputees, but also useful to anyone needing/wanting to change the writing hand) -- Fall 2008 issue

One day, I may do an article on the unique problems of forcibly switched left-to-right-handers such as yourself: will others here let me know if this might interest them?

I am a rightie but learned to do many things left handed due to carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger thumb. Writing is not one of those things. I now have carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger thumb in my left hand as well.

Someone using left hand is thought of a clever person in my country.

But...Writing down our language by left will be very difficult...

:crybaby:

I have always heard that left handed people have to be more clever to make it an a right handed world. I also saw a recent report that mentions several US Presidents that are left handed. Pretty cool.

I'm lefthanded and I wish it was true (about being more clever). I don't think it is, though.

I write with my right hand, but people often tell me that my handwriting looks like it was written by a lefty. I often slant slightly to the left, among other things.

Do you think is it possible to learn writing with left hand for a right handed person at the age of 25+? :hmm1:
