Sheaffer Desk Set?

I'm a bit of a rookie & recently I picked up a marble desk set with two Sheaffer fountain pens. I've seen a 1938 Sheaffer deco ad & am wondering if this set is from that era? The two pens are as follows:

First Pen White Dot Gold Tip 14K

1087394 appears under 14K

Body has 1050

Second Pen White Dot, Gold/Silver Tip

Sheaffer’s Lifetime 14K

Body has 1050

The set has a Sessions clock that appears to be of Deco style, but could not find it in the 1938 ad so am not certain if timeline of 1930's is correct. Thanks for any assitance.

As Newb said post 1942 up to the early 1950's (about a ten years window). Pieces like this are very uncommon - nice find.

Yes, indeed. I don't usually like the bases with clocks, but that's a nice looking one.

Thanks to all three of you for the informstion. The Sessions clock I'm converting to a battery operated mechanism as the electric one is shot (as are most of them) & a replacement motor is ridiculously high, but I figured for $25 it wasn't a bad set. Appreciate the education.

You did well, I'd say this is a $75-100 base.

Where does one look up the time era for pens to bases? I'm soon to be looking for a matching base for my pen, told it's from the 1940's. Finding a military (Army) would be cool as my grandfather was Army in WWII... Mmmm wonder if my uncle has any of grandpa's pens floating around... Time for another letter :P

Early to mid 40's is hard as Sheaffer didn't have catalogues from 1942-45. Go to my site for 1926-1941/2 Desk sets - they are named by year first in catalogue. By late 1942 the band on the socket goes to the top of the socket.

Lots to learn but one base I really liked was the fish base. I'd love that on my desk :) I don't know why...

If you are really interested in Sheaffer desk bases you can search - Sheaffer desk base week - on this site and catch a couple of the long series I did here in 2008. I hate the search function here as I only find two of them doing that but, you could also search sheaffer posts in 2008 and see the series. There was also the sub series on Sheaffer lamps late 2008 or early 2009.
