I find the fusiform shape of the section very comfy and actually more comfy than the Meisterstuck bps.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/jelb/IMG_6914-1.jpg

I have the same BP since Saturday. Fantastic look, I can only agree with you.

They are pricey to be sure, but every Montblanc I've had has been excellent. I especially like the one above. Enjoy.

I love my Montblanc Ballpoints almost as much as I love Fountain Pens.

I have 5 MB ballpoints and have never had an issue, and if you are concerned about dropping a resin pen for risk of fracture then buy one of MBs Metal Pens like The Platinum Plated Faceted Classique ballpoint. I have the pencil Version of that pen and I can speak from experience, it can handle being dropped on Concrete, even multiplue times. Yes it may nick the finish but it did not break anything.

My husband got one from a kindly lady long ago *ahem* and he just lost it. I got him another and I expect many more years of use out of it. Durable and very attractive. Yesterday my husband went for an eye checkup and the doc pulled his pen out of my husband's pocket and said,"Nice Pen!" (He is a funny guy, so that's OK...he knows what the finer things of life are all about).

While I like the warmth of the resin Montblancs, the platinum facets meister is a very cool pen.

I have 146 size MB ballpoint with platinum trim. Still going strong after about 20 years.

I tend to use a Montblanc Ballpoint refill in my Le Grand rollerball MB. Much prefer the ballpoint refills than the rollerball refills, as I only use the pen occasionally and the rollerball refills tend to dry out after a few weeks. Also prefer having a capped pen.

In order to do this I placed the cap of a Schmidt 888 Rollerball Refill in the pen body, which is then exactly the right length to allow the Montblanc ballpoint refill to fit and use without any rattling. Just found this out one day whilst messing around. Not sure how I'll get the cap end out, but I'm sure I will be able to with a pair of long tweezers. Anyway happy with the ballpoint for the foreseeable future.

I like my classic black lacquer Meisterstuck but I hate the twist mechanism.

Any with push mechanism? Even replicas?

Thread revival!!! Yes, Montblanc Egyptomania BP. Looks marvelous, good weight and size. It's a click! Buy it.

Looks like a slightly steep angle where you'd grip it. Have you handled one of these?

You like the ergonomics of length and thickness?
I'm really tempted by these but don't have access to a shop to test drive... Trying to decide between one of these and a 164. I have smallish hands. Thoughts?

The MB 164 is a classic but I still prefer the Egyptomania. I personally don't care about the whole Egypt theme. As for a pen, I quite like the weight and the click option is quite satisfying. It feels really solid in hand comparatively to the MB 164.

YAY I am happy I was on the Montblanc site and found one that should hold up to even my occassion drop the meisterstuck stainless steel II. After Christmas I know what I will be spending $650 on.

The problem with spending $650 on a stainless steel BP is that it will easily become scratched to a duller surface and will dent if you drop it.

Thanks, that helps. I'd get the black not the doue - as I have a black resin FP on order as well. Nevertheless, you make a compelling case for it. More obsessive mulling is in order, I think.
