Classic Pens Inc Cp4 Sheaffer Legacy Gp Prototypes

I recently purchased two Classic Pens CP4 Sheaffer Legacy fountain pens which are gold plated onto a brass body. The basketweave pattern on the CP4 GP PT is close to the pattern used on the Waterman L'Etalon GP Pens and I beleive was a prototype for the CP4 Washington. The Moire pattern on the CP4 Gold plated pen

was used on the CP5 Parker Duofold Vintage.

The quality of the circular engraving on the Moire Pens is truly wonderful when viewed with a loupe.

I would be interested in seeing more CP Prototypes if anyone would like to add to this topic.

I'm sorry that I have nothing to add about prototypes, but...

the second photo is the best I've ever seen of the engraving.

Now I appreciate the buzz about the workmanship.

nice pens  do they use the touch down filler or are they converter filled?

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Georges, the CP4s use the touchdown fillers of the Legend model.

Gary - wish I could add some prototypes for you, but I scramble as hard as I can just to keep up with the regular CP series!

The only one I can add to your thread is a prototype, done in GP on brass as were your prototypes, of the ZJ2 Parisienne in the new Mythos shape. You really need to hold this one in your hand to appreciate the gravitas of this pen. I am posting that here side by side with a prototype CP6 Marguerite in barlleycorn.

Some more, which I do NOT, sadly, own. An interesting 'window pane 'pattern on a CP6 Marguerite

CP6 Charlotte with 'flowing water' pattern.

CP6 Marguerite against the all sterling Man 100 (I also own that model)

Thanks for the wonderful pictures, the window pane CP6 is just stunning and I'm a big fan of the Deep Cut Fluted Pattern which looks great on the Pelikan 1000.

  • 2 years later...

I have this version of the Sheaffer Legacy CP4 that i only know a few details off.

My father gave this pen to me, I remember him telling me that it was a prototype version of the pen, before it went into production.

The pen is clear, and you can see all the inner workings, please see the pictures attached.

does anybody know anything about this pen?

Thank you

John
