The Economy Pen, Sears, Roebuck and Co.

I just picked up a cheapie at eBay (see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4976135371 ) - I just can't resist a pen with its original box. Anyway, does anyone have any information about these pens? It looks to me to be twenties vintage - any more informed estimates? I'm assuming that Sears didn't produce these themselves, so any guess as to the manufacturer (maybe Barrett)? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows something of these pens. Thanks.

I have a boxed one too and while trying it out the owner obligingly wrote 1921. It's an eyedropper filler, the nib is missing.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

I just purchased a CHR Sears Roebuck pen

It says on the Barrel: Fountain Pen Sears Roebuck and Co Chicago

It has no lever and no blind cap.

How does one determine if it is an eyedropper filler pen?

Unscrew the section- if there is no filling mechanism and no holes in the barrel it is an eyedropper filler. They were made well into the 20th century and were preferred by some people because they had a very large ink capacity.
