My Unusual Parker Pen?

Recommended Posts

my mum and dad bought me a great Parker pen in 1970. I think it is the jotter pen. It is a ballpoint, with a silver top and blue barrel. My pen has a see through window along the barrel, and on pressing the top it converts shillings to new pence (up to a pound in old money). I haven't seen any other Parker like it and wondered how many were made of this pre decimalisation edition? Any info would be much appreciated. Shaz

That is actually a Ad pen where ad paper are rolled on the pen refill. When the pen are in used, by pressing the button, the ads do change along.......

Something Like: Love me ..... Love me not......LoL :roflmho: :roflmho: :roflmho:

Thanks so much, that has been enlightening. Wonder how many were made of that particular edition. Shaz

Thanks - yes just how my 1970 British version appears with the shillings to new pence converter. I must load a photo later. Shaz

Not the most common Jotter, but you do see them pop up on eBay from time to time (usually go for a pretty penny). I've also seen one that "compares" the longevity (in terms of writing feet) of a Jotter refill vs. its competitors from Cross, Sheaffer, etc.

I'm sure your particular pen was a big seller for Parker UK during the "currency changeover". Nice keepsake of a great marketing idea and a period of British history.

Thank you that is really helpful.

Yes I agree a great marketing idea and looking back it was a very interesting time in history.

Without question a lovely keepsake.
