I'm sure there are someone out there who are wondering about the different colours available to the Parker 51 -line- This is a colour comparison (sadly I don't have a Nassau green (yet!) also the MKIII rage red and Turqoise are missing)):

Plum, please! :P

Thank you so much for this pic! I've just recently begun eyeing some vintage pens. (Note to FPN...totally your fault.) Since I still know basically nothing about vintage pens, I figured the Parker 51 would be a nice safe start!

Thanks again!

Thats a nice looking set you have there Tony! Two plums? You should send me one!

Nope, not two plums. The red on top is an English Blood red, the plum-ish is Burgundy and the brown is the cordovan.

I realise that I should have added a colour description. Will do.

Best,

Tony

You cruel man.

So now, as an encore, we want photos, with measurements, of each of the nib sizes. Which not even Ernesto has yet provided...

Well a very kind FPN:er let me have a nice Nassau, thus completing my vac and aero colours (still missing a few MKIII's).

Here's a line-up, this time denoting which colours are which:

Hi Tony

I bet you a pound (or that Nassau green) that the cordovan in the pics was made in England!

Regards

Paul.

I was about to repost my set without the cedar, but I think I've got that nailed down.

Nice 51 collection, I have 17 of them, no Plum or Nassau green and only MK III.

I sooo want to have all the vac 51's with double jewels. They are so beautiful.

Right now I'm waiting for a cedar DJ (first year no less) that Ernesto Soler sold me. I'm very excited.

I was also very fortunate to be able to buy a Navy grey vac filler (no, not Dove!), also from a very kind FPN'er, which I'm also waiting for. I also need to find the Burgundy (not cordovan) vac to complete it all.

As a curiosity, the Navy grey in the picture above was actually my first Parker pen that got me started with this strange hobby.

I had always used Rotring's rapidograph pens for drawing and wanted to try a fountain pen for a more flexible line, so I bought a nice new Pelikan, which I was very happy with. I showed it off at work and a collegue named Sonesson said he had an old pen at home he could let me have. When he gave me the 51 I was a bit disappointed, not showing the nib I kind of thought that it wasn't a real fountain pen at all. About a month later I found one just like it in cordovan in an antique shop. I had them both restored and I was hooked. I even visited the restorer who taught me most of what I know about repairing pens.

Strange how things go.

This is an interesting topic... How about hi-jacking my own thread?

Let's hear Your story. How did You get started?

/Tony
