Sailor Jentle Autumn 2010 Inks...

Triplet Mom

Recommended Posts

These three colors from the new Autumn 2010 limited edition ink collection have a gorgeous, subtle shimmer that make your words seem like they are gently glowing from the page. That on top of the exceptional shading each one has and how well this ink flows from every pen I put it in, has made me love these inks even more than my beloved Iroshizuku inks.

Kin-Mokusei has a bright orange shimmer

Oku-yama has a light green shimmer

Yama-dori has a red shimmer

Oooh, that Yama-Dori!!!

what a nice shimer...

how is that ink, wet, thin, creeping, thick, made from the finest particles?

Wow, this limited edition ink is just gorgeous, especially Yama Dori.

I would love to get my hands on them!

Just wondering, what pen was the sample written with?

All of these inks are thin, yet very highly saturated.

Wonderful!

Many thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately I still have to wait a few weeks before they arrive in the UK to be sent to my German ink dealer to be passed forward to me :crybaby:

Cheers

I bought mine straight from Japan using this link that was provided from other wonderful FPN members. It was a painless, affordable, and FAST way to get these inks right away. As usual, no affiliation, blah, blah, blah...LOL!

The pens I used for the writing samples are:

Kin-mokusei: An Orange Marble Montegrappa Micra with a Binder 0.45mm cursive italic nib

Oku-yama: A Nakaya Heki Piccolo with a Mottishaw two-tone soft fine with added flex nib

Yama-dori: A Blue Marble Montegrappa Micra with Binder 0.5mm cursive italic nib

Lovely! And fabulous photography as well.

I have those three inks too but sadly, my writing will require quite a bit more work to be that beautiful. Pity that ability isn't somehow magically part of the ink. Is that the Rhodia dot pad you've used there, Triplet Mom?

Thank you for your kind words! And, yes, that is the Rhodia Dot Pad. I'm really enjoying those cool little dots!

Beautiful writing. I was curious about the color variation shading your samples show, and my versions of those inks I got from Japan do not have that multi-color variation at all. I even did a wet finger smear of Yama-dori and it is just a beautiful dark turquoise solid color. Tell me you are dipping your nib in one to get some residual carried over into the second before writing. I love the effect though.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Thanks for your compliments on my writing! The shading and shimmer affects are far more evident in flex and cursive italic nibs. I wonder if the fine shimmer particles could settle on the bottom of the bottle since you haven't seen the same color variation? I shake my bottles of ink pretty well right before filling my pens, so maybe it disperses the shimmer particles more with this particular ink line.

I am also puzzled by the variation you are getting with Yama-dori. I get a nice (very) dark blue-turquoise... I'm going to try giving the bottle a shake and see. Thanks for the suggestion!

the bottom example gives the similar effect of a bohemian glass called saphiret.. blue turq reflection one way - brick red the other.

I had never heard of Saphiret glass before your post, so I just Googled it. Wow...that IS really pretty! I found one site with jewelry from the late 1800's. They were stunning! I may have found a new addiction...LOL!

I just shook it for 30 seconds. Mucho bubbles LOL! Also got an italic nib and another flex metal dip nib pen, and absolutely no shimmer particles or color variation. These nibs were absolutely clean and dry. I only get that beautiful dark turquoise Yama-dori solid color...even if I again wiped ink before dry, or wiped a wet finger over the ink. There is no appearance of that red. I wonder if there is another explanation possible? Don't get me wrong, I wish I had what you are showing. I didn't see that on the Japanese site when I bought them like this Rakuten listing.

friend who is a button dealer just sold one on ebay for $35 I have a faceted dimi (3/8" or less), set in metal, that would have been used as trim, or on a glove.. they are charming.. the effect is real.. a true color shift.

I have the Yama-dori, Kin-mokusei, & Chu-shu. They have rapidly become favorites. The Chu-shu is a gorgeous charcoal purplish color, and shades in a way that reminds me of iron gall inks. I've ordered extra bottles so I won't run out of any of these.cloud9.gif
