Which Is Your Favorite Luxury Pen If You Had The Money To Buy One?

Mmmnn.... For me, it would be one of two or three things:

- a reissued Parker 51 - a complete reproduction of the Mk1 Aerometric. Parker did do a LE anniversary model, I know, but it really wasn't the same (iirc, it was designed to be used with either cartridges or a squeeze-bulb converter...)

- a high end, piston filler like a Pelikan

- A 'pimped out' spec Waterman Phileas, with the following:

- ebonite body

- lever-operated filling mechanism.

Maybe I just have simple tastes, but a lot of the high end pens are just too 'blingy' for me. not that I don't like a certain level of flamboyance - I love my marble-finished Phileases and the likes - but there's only so much gold and ornamentation I can go for before it all just looks cheap and nasty to me - no matter how much it costs or may be worth. But wouldn't it be a dull world if we all liked the same pens? ;-)

This probably doesn't quite qualify as luxury in the pen world, but I have wanted a Lamy 2000 for ages now. Also, the Montblanc Edgar Allen Poe. Sigh. :notworthy1:

I just got a Lamy 2000. Its pretty nice especially for the price.

I have not decided what limited edition or high end pens I want yet. Mainly because I need to decide what nibs I like. I am getting pens in different nibs so I can see what I like the best. The next will probably be an Oblique and an Italic.

I like the sailor Arita pens and other asian pens that have painted art on them. I don't like the pens that have a lot of metal work on them as most are overdone for my taste.

A pen made with my choice of colorful acrylic body and beautiful clip.

It has been planned for a long time, however, other regular production pens are in the lineup before it.

Trying to decide which is the best and most favorite pen and pen maker on this site is like trying to ask a bunch of car fans who makes the best cars in the world IMPOSIBLE!!!

(Even though everybody know Montblanc makes the best high end pens :ltcapd: )

Nothing better than a good sense of humor

I'm not much into the "bling" of a precious metal pen as for the art work of let's say Japanese pens.

For me, ALL of these would do:

Not all Maki-e will do me but Kevin's is gorgeous.

The Aurora Clear Demonstrator with red trim. The lowest I've seen is $500. Way too much for my budget.

Why doesn't somebody make an synthetic diamond barreled demonstrator already? Maybe even with a clear feed and nib.

That is going to be ABSOLUTELY EPIC.

I've been very fortunate to own just about every pen I've ever wanted. That said, and presuming the price to be irrelevant ... probably the Montblanc Poe, Twain, Lennon, Legrand platinum; ST Dupont Orpheo all black w/rhodium; and Duofold Rockwell, all come to mind first. But ... even with all of those, I would still come back to my 51 aero.

I might accept a Pelikan Kyokko/Gekko set. You know, if it was forced on me at gunpoint or something. ;)

The Nakaya Tametomo. I pitched the idea for this pen, which shows the samurai warlord Minamoto Tametomo, a famous archer, sinking an enemy warship with a single arrow. (He also was the first to commit ritual suicide, but that's another story.) $2,200, which I couldn't afford. The first one was sold at a pen show - I don't know who owns it.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
