Fs: Pelikan M800 Demonstrator, W/etchings

Hello everyone! Mostly I just lurk around here, reading reviews and admiring everyone else's collections that far outstrip mine. But we just went through and cleaned out our office, which includes getting rid of things we don't use.

This is almost painful for me to give up. I have this weakness for demonstrators, something about seeing how it all works while I'm using it is just appealing to me. And the Pelikan Souveran line is my favorite fountain pen to use...but I have very small hands, and I knew when I bought it that the M800 was likely too big to write comfortably for me. Still, it was the most beautiful Demonstrator I'd ever seen. I waffled back and forth - get the pen, don't get the pen - and then, with etchings, or without. In the end, I couldn't pass it up, and I bought one of them with the etchings, about a year ago, afraid they would vanish and I'd regret it forever if I didn't.

And just as I suspected, the pen was too large to comfortably fit my hand. It sits in its box looking gorgeous, and occasionally I take it out and admire it, and then back it goes. But a pen is made to be used, as all the others in my collection are. This one, I never even inked, afraid the ink would stain it and I'd never get it clean. The truth is, it's not the right pen for me, no matter how beautiful it is. I love it, but I'll never use it, so here it is. Maybe someday, Pelikan will produce an M400 or M600 demonstrator as beautiful as this, and that will be the one for me.

Brand new in original box, with the etchings that tell what each part is. Never used, never inked. M nib. $412 $380 CONUS, paypal

This also gave me the chance to play with my camera, which is always fun. Of course, taking photos also reminded me of the beauty of this pen, and it's taken me a few hours to actually list it here. Part of me sort of hopes no one will buy it. (I'm sure the husband will believe that!) Anyway, thanks for looking.

That's a beautiful pen. If you're looking for something smaller though, DeScribe was selling the M205 clear demonstrator at a very reasonable price. I'm not sure if he still has them, but it's worth asking. I bought one from him some time ago and it's very much a part of my regular rotation.

Thank you! I already have a blue M200 demonstrator, although the blue is so dark I have trouble seeing the "demonstration". I see those clear 205s were back in 2009, but it looks like I might be able to find one still at a retailer if I look really hard. What I'd really like is about an M400 size, but it seems Pelikan hasn't made one yet.

Hmm, so I can't edit my original post to reflect this, but another price drop today. $360 for the pen, and I'll ship worldwide.

I feel exactly the same way about my M800. The 400s are a bit too small for me, so I am waiting for a 600 sized demonstrator. But you're a stronger person than I because I would never sell my M800 demonstrator. I use it once every six months before I remember how uncomfortable it is for me to use and put it away. But I'd miss not having it once every six months. :)

Good luck with the sale. Your price is extremely fair and I hope someone snaps this up soon.

Thanks! Honestly, part of me still wants to take it down and keep it...and then I remind myself that sitting unused in a box is no place for such a beautiful, well made pen. Although we'll see how long I leave it up without selling. I don't plan to lower the price any further, so if no one bites in the next couple of days, I may just take it down and keep admiring the pen for awhile. :)

An M600 Demonstrator would be gorgeous! I haven't held an M600 extensively, but I think I could use one fairly comfortably. Really, either an M400 or M600 would have my full attention. :)
