Classique Or Le Grand Ballpoint?

My authorized dealer gave me a substantial discount on a 149 that had a surface scuff mark in the plastic resin of the cap - due to careless handling by a staff member.

Could I ask what your discount was, Matt? I got this one for 20% off Canadian retail. I thought that was pretty good, since this shop normally only gives a 10% discount.

Twenty-five percent! That's fantastic!

I think I might be leaning towards returning the pen. I just noticed another scratch on the tip, near where the gold tip meets the case. It's a scratch, not a nic. I'm feeling that is way too much damage for a new pen, even if I got it for a good price.

i once ordered a new gold and steel daytona from an authorized dealer over the phone. it was mailed to me. the watch was new, but had a substantial scratch on the bracelet. i kept the watch and now cannot even see it. when i get a new montblanc, i do not even bother to scrutinize the body because i know i will find imperfections. i just purchased a silver fibre guilloche ballpoint from the montbl boutique sale. i ordered it by phone because i figured it would sell quickly. when i went to pick it up, the manager of the boutique told me that she noticed a scratch so gave me the other one in stock. she showed me the scratch--i did not really appreciate any significant blemish. if yours is significant, return it. beware that the next one will have some other issue. every pen has some imperfection--you should see the discoloration in my montegrappa nero uno linea rose gold pen. the main thing i want to say is that ny legrand ballpoint was first bought in 1994. the pen looks more pristine than my one year old cartier rdster. there is something about the quality of the legrand. it is the most beautiful and quality-laden pen i have. it repels smudges more than my other montblancs and cartiers. i now have 4 legrands. a 20 percent discount on regular montblancs is the minimum i expect and receive. i just got 30 percent off on sealed twain ballpt. i think the legrand is the best pen for the money in the 400 to 1000 range.
