Astoria

Love the eggshell finish. I hope Max makes a Goliath version of it too!...darn it, now I'm craving breakfast :bonk:

Also that clip is very simple and clean, similar to the Proust/Wilde/Octavian clip, which I believe was inspired by some of the Danish MB's. The whole thing is nicely done really, we're very lucky that Max revived this brand.

cheers

Gosh, that nib is elegant Wael. That's another pen to go on my Wish List.

Those are just about the most perfect types of shot for that super looking David Eggshell of yours Sunnerd. Great photos.

Thanks for sharing guys.

Pavoni.

Thanks Pavoni, although, if I had one thing to nit pick, I'd say..."Astoria" is stamped on the nib to cater to right handed users. :bonk: ...no one cares about us lefties :gaah:

Wael,

Very nice pen. I like the simple black design.

I have a few questions. How does it write? And what is the size of the physical nib like? More like the size of a MB 146?

Do you know if Max can have a custom nib without engraving and a grind or custom it to flex like vintage MB? Or different grind such as crisp OB stub..etc...

Sorry for so many questions and not sure if you are the best person to ask.

Reviving an old thread... since I was photographing some of my MB pens today, I figured my Astoria could use some photos too.

Max makes a nice blue version and a very elegant gray one too. I like both.

I believe the nib size is an 8, so it's certainly bigger than the 146 nib, but not quite as large as a 149. It really feels like the right size of the pen.

Here is a very poor photo I took long ago...

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/ss78/waeleldasher/fdf10d14.jpg

I ordered it with a B nib, its a standard B nib in my view, very smooth, very wet writer. It behaves like a MB modern nib, so no flex. As far as the engraving, you'll have to check with Max, but I find the Astoria engraving on the nib extremely elegant and classy. It's not showy, very understated, but to each his own. I believe Max is able to accommodate most custom requests.

Sorry for so many questions and not sure if you are the best person to ask.

No big deal, happy to answer to the best of my abilities.

THIS is DEFINITELY the most beautiful pen I have ever seen ! :notworthy1:

Honestly, this pen is far better than ... lets take the Montblanc Cristóbal Colón (see: http://fountainpen.de/limited-artisan-cristobal.htm )

Your overlay seems to be hand made ... how long does it take to make such overlays???
