FPN Ink Label!!!!!!

Admin

Recommended Posts

My latest draft:

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l143/arcis1814/fpn_ink_label_09.jpg

I've restarted creating the label and have tried to create an image with much higher resolution than the previous ones. You can't really see it here, because Photobucket online allows images of max 800x600.

Changed the colors a bit to make the image a bit less greyish and I've incorporated the "Fountain Pen Network" on the first line using the original font (as used in the site's titles).

"There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey."

- John Ruskin (1819-1900)

Very nice! I think it's almost time to "cut and print" One thing though, the name of the ink is "FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown". Hana, can you write FPN to put on the top line? Hyper, that FPN would go on the top line in place of the "Fountain Pen Network" ok?

Yes; sorry, I've been sort of busy with school work. I'll do "FPN" and scan up a better res. pic of Galileo, too.

Here is the "FPN" spaced out in a way it should not clash with the "Galileo Manuscript Brown".

Also sent a bigger version of portrait to HyperCamper.

Allright, here's another go:

Added a highres version of Hana's charcoal drawing of Galileo and added her "FPN".

Should the label say "fountain pen ink" somewhere?

Here's one with the periods that were in Hana's original "F.P.N"

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l143/arcis1814/fpn_ink_label_11.jpg

Viseguy, I think that adding more text than there's on it already will make the label very crowded.

Remember, NT still has to add "Noodler's Ink" and, if he wants to, "Made in the U.S.A." (although we can proudly state: "Made by people from all over the world") to it. That's one of my reasons for leaving open spaces next to the FPN logo and not experimenting with it's position or size anymore.

Very good stuff here, but what happened to the Noodler's logo. Won't they want their name on the lable? Oh, I need to read alittle better. Looks like the last post answered my question.

We're leaving it to Noodler's to add the logo.

None of the other Noodler's ink says Fountain Pen Ink.

Possibly being too picky here, but is there a way to get the FPN (no periods) to look more like it's part of the name of the ink? If not, I think we can put this to a vote very soon?

I think that having FPN Galelio on one line and Manuscript Brown on the second would be better. The way it is right now there is way too much white space on the first and the second looks cramped.

And maybe rather than the formal border around the sketch do a more smooth brushed in so it seems to float over the writing not pasted on.

I'd do a mockup of my ideas but I don't have the raws to play with.

So far I've made 11 drafts, which was a lot of fun to do. :)

A lot of the ideas that have been suggested have at one time ot another been implemented. There's always room for improvement or change. However, there should be a moment for halting the discussions and making a choice.

I'll leave the choice between FPN and F.P.N up to Hana, but my most recent draft is the last I've made. Ofcourse, if my draft is to be used, I'll do everything necessary to make it ready for printing.

I really prefer the spacing on "F.P.N"-- Doesn't it make the FPN look more important? :D

Quite true. Also, 'fountain pen' appears twice. Besides, if it's only for sale here, everyone knows what they're getting. :D

I think the FPN would look better without the dots. But I can only think that because we haven't seen it.

But this is a really great design. Hats off to the designer!

Yeah, I think most everybody would be proud to have a bottle of this ink sitting out. Looks a lot better than the catfish, no doubt.

I agree with Tytyvyllus on the spacing of FPN Galileo / Manuscript Brown.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

I'm going to take one more run at this.

The label does not need the "FPN" line up above "Galileo Manuscript Brown" in order to identify the ink as a Fountain Pen Network Limited Edition. The Network is identified by logo and by URL. The branding is covered. Nobody is going to mistake this ink for something sponsored by the Pentrace board or by Sal's Fountain Pens and Meat Market.

There is so much writing on the label now (looking at the manuscript reproduction in the background) that dropping a line of it could only be an improvement.

The folks in the Bureau of Redundancy Department work overtime as it is. Let's let them off the hook on this one.

I'm off on a trip for a week with little or no access to FPN. It will be interesting to see what the final decision is! :)
