I see; with that meaning, the sentence would then be grammatically correct, but still sound somehow weird.  In any case, I am impressed by your knowledge of Italian.  Where did you study it?  Or are you of Italian origin?

Yes, of Italian origin. I'm Sicilian. I grew up surrounded by spoken Sicilian and Italian (quite a difference there), and understood a lot of it (sort of), but spoke English at home. I didn't take Italian classes until much later, in my 20's. So I'm far from expert when it comes to la lingua.

Here's another mockup with some twists. I think fading both the writing and the picture along with a slant to the writing brings something different ot the mix.

Tytyvyllus,

Did you see the better version of the "Galileo Manuscript Brown" I wrote up? It's on page 8.

Last draft for today. ;)

The label looks wonderful. I think the words Noodlers Ink should be just straight across instead of on a curve. For some reason I am drawn to those works instead of the color of the ink.

Is it just me, does my illustration look blurry on this version of the label?

My vote would go to HyperCampers lable on page eight, the one with Noodler's logo superimposed over the FPN logo.

Regarding the comment about the curving text of "Noodler's Ink," isn't that how the logo appears on all Noodler's bottles? Either way, it doesn't bother me. I don't think it draws undue attention to the fact that it's by Noodler's. Indeed, I think Noodler's deserves a lot of cheers for making this ink just for FPN. :)

I thank everyone who worked on this. I really like the basic elements of the label as they have been in the last few incarnations, so the last picky details aren't that big of a deal to me. I leave those decisions in everyone else's capable hands!

Yes, the curved text IS the Noodler's logo, so I don't think we can mess with that. In fact, we can probably leave it up to Nathan to insert it somewhere appropriately. However, I still think we can make the logo MUCH smaller as it is on many of Noodler's labels. Also, on many of the labels, the logo is sideways, or diagonal or....

I think I prefer the name of the ink above the drawing and the logo etc. underneath.

Kurt, I love the effect you've given to the artwork. However, I love Hana's drawing and I prefer to keep it clearer.

My 2 cents: I'd prefer "Galileo Manuscript Brown" to be on top, and the portrait and "Noodler's Ink" to be slid down.

Also, I'm not sure that I think about the offsetting of the "Galileo Manuscript Brown" with the lighter colored background necessary.

The label is really shaping up nicely.

Maybe it's time for a poll? Could the "higher powers" provide guidance as to how to come to a final decision? ;)

This one's my personal favourite:

Hana, the image was a bit blurred. I trief sharpening it in my latest draft. Hope it's better.

I know I'm just backseat driving here, but like Elaine said some time ago, "the label will cover 3 sides of the bottle" (like the "El Lawrence" ink), so how about:

-Some real writing examples by Galileo on side one, with perhaps the FPN logo in the corner or so

-The portrait of Galileo on the main side, with the ink's name and Noodler's logo

-Illustrations or diagrams drawn by Galileo on side three, with "Made in U.S.A.", etc.

The issue the admins are working on now is whether or not to start a poll on whether or not we should limit the choice to the label that is under development, or keep the options open (allowing other submissions). It's looking like there is wholehearted support for the current design under development, but we don't want to presume. That poll will be up soon I hope.

Meanwhile, I like Hypercamper's personal favorite. (see his latest post?) The only question I have is if we can have Noodler's Ink in handwriting like that or if we want to use the official Noodler's logo? If I recall correctly, Nathan told me that we don't even have to have the name Noodler's on the bottle. However, I strongly believe it should be in some form or another.

One of the hats I wear at work is "brand thug," and I agree--if it is Noodler's ink, it seems inappropriate to me not to include the Noodler's logo, and to include it in a way that is consistent with packaging used on other inks. Sounds like NT is comfortable with the logo appearing in different orientations and sizes, so that gives nice flexibility.

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

I have a small suggestion:

This is an ink unique to FPN, and FPN only (FPN LE), so somehow I'd like to see FPN in the name of the ink, if that isn't too much trouble.

Anybody up to doing this? :D

I think Griz has wider set eyes - the true sign of a preditor......

To the game at hand - deciding on a lebel. I think the time for comment is over - 'those in charge' SHOULD take a decision and anounce it.

This is my opinion. Few things get done by splitting things to committee and taking 'one more pole'. One can sit and wait (a good way to get killed in combat), or face the decision and pervail.

Well, there is some very good work displayed in this thread. How long is the talk going on .... shall we discuss the type of table to have this decision taken on?

Ron - I sure understand your impatience, having had to endure many due process requirements in my days as a change management worker.

Perhaps we could set a date by which time we would hand the input over to the Committee to make either a final decision or to offer 2 or 3 great possibilities for a vote. Since the first post was put up last Friday, perhaps the end of the week would be a good time to wrap things up. That is, if the Committee is able to work with that.

BTW, I like Wim's idea of incorporating FPN into the name. It could be a very nice touch.

And as for Tom's eyes reflecting a predatory nature, I am reminded of a professor who cautioned her class to pay careful attention to the boundary line between predator (eyes reasonably far apart but facing forward and operating in concert) and prey (eyes further apart and able to operate independently of each other.
