What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase?

I recently bought a 149 from the FPN classifieds (what a treasure trove!). It's my first 149 with a beautiful F nib; I'm actually finding it difficult to go back to my 146s due to the sheer comfort.

At the risk of controversy; could there be a better pen?! :P

Actually it's not new, I found it after years of hiding in one of my 'little things' boxes since moving to other places. An MB 149 from the 1990's. That is about 20 years 'lost in translation'! The nib is somehow misaligned and I just sent it to Greg Minuskin to be fixed. It has an OB nib.

I spent hours to clear my old stuff in the hope to find some more treasures. Couldn't find any more :( But now my place looks very shiny :D What a Father's Day!

For sale: M625 red/silver, P395 gold, Delta Fellini.

Very nice. Just remember that one MB leads to 20...or more.

Shipping soon: a late 1970s Montblanc 149 with EF nib. Pictures looked really nice, excellent line variation in the writing sample. My first 149 in EF-size. Can't wait!

The 149 EF has arrived this morning. nicely wrapped and packaged, no box or papers (as expected). Looks gorgeous, almost entirely without flaws, inked it up with a bit of Waterman Florida Blue. The nib feels very good on paper, the line is nice, (extra-) fine and smooth.

Here she is with her younger sister, Agatha:

And here's a close-up of my latest addition:

14C extra-fine nib, split ebonite feed, two-piece barrel (I think I got this right), brass threads on the filler mechanism. Nib is really wonderful. Via penboard.de / Tom Westerich.

Not entirely sure about Florida Blue in this one -- looks a bit pale.

OK, back to work for me! Fortunately, I can use this pen to take notes while testing / debugging software.

Many congrats.

Hope it will perform flawless.

Wow what a nib. Almost like a needle (that sharp).

Does it feel scratchy on the paper?

That EF nib looks magnificient in the comparison shot with the Agatha. Don't you just love those 149 nibs! :happycloud9:

Thank you very much for sharing.

Thanks!

The Agatha Christie has an F nib, so the EF on the 149 really is small. But it is not at all scratchy. I think buttery smooth is appropriate here.

I also have a Sailor 1911 large with a fine nib, which writes even thinner (I think; don't have both with me right now) but also displays that "hot knife through butter" pleasant form of tiniest resistance.

I'm not sure how well you can tell from the iPhone snap, but the EF nib has a bit of a nose ("wipneus" in Dutch), so the actual area of contact isn't all that small.

Ah, I see what you mean.

If you have time can you provide a writing sample? I really want to know if there is any line-variation, so I can widen my range for future nibs.

I'll have a go at writing samples with EF, F and M at home later today! Hopefully, it will be useful.

WOW, Congrats! Stunning pen! I had no clue any MB's were made in Italy.
