Finally i did get a 149, i think it is from the sixties (according to the dating chart), it even came with a (dirty) box which i think belongs to an older pen.

I am a little surprised by the size, it´s much larger than i thought, my fifties 146 looks allmost tiny in comparison, but i like the size and it fits nicely in my hand.

The feed changed in the sixties; both are illustrated in that thread.

That is one desirable MB 149! Early 1960 first generation resin that has all the important characteristics of a celluloid MB 149. Actually the nib and feed are same ones used in celluloid MB 149. Friction fit piston, smooth and flexible double broad nib and one piece barrel, a real collector's pen! I have a feeling value of these pens are going to sky rocket since they offer the writing experience of a celluloid MB 149 while requiring less maintenance and hassle.

Treated myself to a 146 Doue Barley Corn as a graduation present. Been wanting one since I first tried it at the Salzburg boutique 9 months ago; figured it was time to get it.

Congrats, it is a lovely pen. I bought one in March. I love how the guilloche pattern is on both the barrel and cap.

A spectacular pen for a momentous occasion. Congrats on both accounts!

A Classique.
Seeing that there are 2 other MB's lying around in the house ( a 145 75th anniversary ed. and a Mozart ) that I wasn't allowed to use but weren't used by their owners ( my parents ) I decided to get myself one as a gift to myself :D

Thank you! The guilloche is what originally caught my eye when looking at the displays. It stood out amongst all the other plain black ones.

I honestly cannot stop looking at it (and using it) as it is just so perfect. I can see why the 146 is such a favorite pen; its so comfortable to use. Aside from my OMAS Art Deco it is the most comfortable pen I have ever used.

Just received my first MB! It's a Meisterstück-pix ball pen in black I picked up from eBay for £50, looks and feels the genuine article! Not sure which model exactly though, its not the LeGrande version. Was cheap as its quite used but very presentable still and has a name engraved on it. Will be using it at work today! :D

Shipping soon: a late 1970s Montblanc 149 with EF nib. Pictures looked really nice, excellent line variation in the writing sample. My first 149 in EF-size. Can't wait!

Congratulations on your first MB 149 pmhudepo.

When I first got mine, I was interested in what my own reactions would be, given the hype/myth surrounding this excellent pen. Glad to say that the pen met my expectations and is regularly in rotation because of its excellent 'F' nib, which is superb for notes.

Would be very interested to hear of your experience when it arrives!

Thanks, pavoni, but it's not my first MB 149. It is my first in EF size and is about as old as I am. I think it was you who posted excellent pictures of your Hemingway with EF nib, with a beautiful drawing and that post got me thinking about getting an EF nib myself.

I'll post more when it arrives. Hopefully next week.

edit: it was fpupulin's thread.

Ah, understood pmhudepo. Still looking forward to hearing of the arrival of your pen though :)

And yes, the fountain pen drawings were fpupulin's fantastic work (more please :D )
