Aw, Pen Nut, and here I was hoping that your negotiations included me...

A very nice looking pen. For folks like me who don't know by just looking, would you please tell us about it.

I have am affliction towards metal Montblancs, its not my fault honest, I just noticed one day that I had moved away from precious resin and that was that.

Sooooo many stainless, silver, doue and vermeil MB pens later my sights were set on a 149 in metal but therein lies a problem as solid gold or platinum are the two choices. Gold 149 = expensive, poss divorce. Platinum = VERY expensive, homeless with parts of my manhood missing. Gold it was then and around two years ago I started to look around and let various people know I was sort of in the market. Came close to three but one was a 149 with gold overlay by a French jeweller and whilst pretty didnt quite hit the mark. One was damaged, but had the mother of pearl star which I wanted, but I felt the damage would always be an issue for me and the final one was a near miss where I could have lost a lot of money so it has been a quest.

This one is a friends who has let me have on a weeks approval, think I am smitten, so judgement day is this Friday.

To answer your question the pen is a 149 in two tone 18ct gold, sometimes refered to as the herringbone model. It is neither a limited edition or any form of edition at all really but I think it looks well.

Gosh, this is worse than torture....Friday is ages away :crybaby: Surely there is no way you can give that beauty back! It looks perfect. :puddle: Besides, we are all looking forward to bags more photos and a full review of your new pen. Have you seen a new pen case for it yet?

Go on...you know it makes sense

Pen Nut,

If you decide not to keep it, could you pass along the information for the seller. I would love to get my hands on one of those. The wife's comment last night when I showed it to her was, "If he does not buy it, I will." Gotta love her for that.

Sunnerd,

That is a very nice pen and I think you will enjoy it a lot.

Lovely pictures Pen Nut. You had me going there for a moment when I read "IF I said IF I do go ahead with this deal I have been thinking where this pen will be living.....1. Marlene may get evicted" I thought 'He's done it! He's keeping the pen and poor Mrs Pen Nut is being evicted'. :headsmack:

I like the case because it is understated and doesn't seek to take anything away from the pen. As for sharing in that particular case, surely a pen of that magnificence travels on it own. However, in the penvelope.... :puddle: ...what a line up

Only two more sleepless nights left

OK, I see a Thomas Mann hiding on the left (I think), some flat tops in the middle...and you were almost off MB? lticaptd.gif

Welcome anyway, the more the merrier.

Yes, I plead temporary insanity.....sold my 149s, Hemi, Dumas,Mann, Schiller, Morgan, vintage MBs, etc....just kept the Slimline for sentimental reasons...actually, sold a lot of my higher end pens after discovering I had $40K of necessary house repairs to deal with.... rolleyes.gif Fortunately, have recovered from that, so, was able to replace a few recently; 149, Hemi, Dumas, Mann.....:)

Oops, I did it again......

One more in the MB stable.....

Guess that temporary insanity, is less temporary than I thought.....

1. Marlene may get evicted

Without duplicating the pics, what is the pen on the left (wider on the top and bottom, and narrow in the middle)?

The pen is a silver Montblanc Marlene Dietrich. Its a lovely thing. If you go to the 'fountain pen reviews' forum you can read what I have said about it.

Great addition, Mark! Morgan is one of the few PoA's I would consider owning.

Enjoy!

cheers

The gold 149 is a favourite of mine. In my 1998/1999 catalogue they used to make the Mozart in that combo and also in platinum. I wonder how much they were

I am showing the Mozart in platinum as model : 12114

and in 18ct two tone gold it is shown as : 1149

Just trying to locate a 1998/99 price list for the Mozart line so maybe I can find out what they were priced at.

As a rough idea in 1998/99 the 144 in solid platinum (12144) was £6,900 (GBP)

Whilst in two tone 18ct the 144 (1449) was £4,950 (GBP)

All the above info relates to the fountain pen variants and prices quoted may not include VAT.
