Just received my MB Dumas. It has the son's signature instead of Dumas Sr. This is my first broad nib, and I think im going to like it!! I was a bit shocked that the pen really is more of a dark chocolate almost black. I dont think this comes across in pictures, unless mine has just been used and abused..haha.

Wow, congrats!

Nice pics. All details are shown very well.

Thank you very much. I am really enjoying the broad nib as well.

In order to appreciate the sweet, you must truly taste the bitter....

The Dumas is a great pen.

Similar shape to 139 and Hemi.

The nib is a 149 nib with a lovely fleur-de-lys image.

I'm glad you like it. What are you using?

Got these two today

I was visiting a B&M Authorised Dealer this afternoon and found a NOS of this:

I can't find any official data on this one and the latest product books in the boutique does not have its description. The only lead I have is this website http://www.gopens.com/Vintage-pens-cat-60.php

item no 24.

It says - "1990 - 146S LeGrande Solitaire PIF in Sterling Silver. Discontinued alternating Barley and Plain Panels design. Stainless steel trim. Visualated barrel...."

I'm hoping some of the montblanc expert in this community can tell me more about it. Any additional information to help me know more about this pen would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Sidestreaker, that one's called Pure Silver.

Magnificent - and significant - haul, Darius. As a Brahms fan, I had been looking forward to getting 'his' pen, but then decided to pick up the StarWalker rollerball (Midnight Black) - it came at a better price than the Brahms' counter part. As you can imagine, I'm still lusting after the Brahms (nothing can quench the thirst for a FP except that specific FP, right? :puddle: ) So I was wondering, what other MB would you compare the Brahms to? How does it respond to different inks, its weight, its handling one different papers, etc?

I'm also an admirer of Joseph II (on account of his patroning Mozart), but that pen is a bit out of my range. Would is be feasible to share your experience using that pen?

Thanks...

The Brahms is similar to the rest of the Donation Pens. I use pens unposted, so they are very similar to writing with a 146, as the materials and weights are more or less the same.

The Joseph II is a much heavier pen, comparable to the Solitaire 146's.

So far the pens have performed well with a variety of inks on different papers I use at home and work.

Nothing spectacular , just mundane mechanical pencil rubbers and .5 HB leads. I got superb service at the MB boutique. :meow:

142 - supplied by Bryant Greer (who was a pleasure to deal with and made the whole international transaction very fast and easy. Many thanks)

Bryant is also responsible for the photographs (used with his kind permission)

I'd been after a 142 for ages, and this one is near perfect. Am delighted with it.

It marks the end of my pen purchases, as I now have all I need - 142, 144, 146, 149.

It's a tiny 'collection' by many peoples standards, but it serves me well

Thank you.

Congratulations on your excellent MB 142 and for completing your 14# series. :clap1: It isn't the size of the collection but the quality ;)

Love to see a picture of them all together when you are able. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Guys, its a medium nib 246G.

I have charged it with Toffee Brown and it writes very smoothly with no scratching at all on my clairefontaine pad...

Beautiful pen! What a nib!

If it writes as good as it looks, it's a winner.

Congratulations!

Went in to the store to get the Swift set and the Brahms. They had all the Swift pens but not as a set and only the Brahms in RB. I will pick them up in the Atlanta Boutique next week now.

While I was showing my 149 Demonstrator to one of the people in the store my wife ended up getting me a Gaius Maecenas and her a Marlene Dietrich. Both at fantastic prices that she could not resist. I will post pics later.

The only "problem" with penboard.de is that shipping to the USA is expensive... sigh.

So? Do you know what it costs to ship from the USA to here?
