A Carnegie just arrived (thanks Bryant) on our little Tropical Island B) . Inked it with Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue. The nib is a very broad stub. Super smooth, but much broader than I am normally used to. Almost a 'paint brush' stroke. Will play with it for a while before deciding whether or not to exchange the nib or ask a nibmeister to grind it down to a different line with (maybe 0.9-Italic?). I am adding a 'quick and dirty' shot (appologies for the bad quality).

Looks very much like a double-broad. Best nibs Montblanc makes IMHO. Should need no grinding. Just enjoy it!

Cheers,

Peter

Iconic fountain pen design. :notworthy1:

Congratulations, such a magnificent pen, it deserves that stunning, rare nib. I hope there is some way you can grow to love it. Also, I would not want to see Ghost Plane cry. :crybaby:

For an "italic effect", I sometimes write with the other side of my BB, or OBB nibs. The line is much more defined and ink flow is usually reduced, resulting in a lighter shade of the ink color. I use the standard side for emphatic darker notes, or sometimes, just for fun.

Lovely pen.

Lovely pen Montecristo.

The Carnegie is really an iconic design, I would love to have one at some stage in my little collection- and a broad stub would be perfect (actually an OB to be exact!)

all the best and enjoy :happyberet:

Very nice pen, was MIB all papers too. For fans of the 146 this reminds me a great deal of the 146 with incredible furniture.

Best

I picked up a 32 and a 12. Nice pens, despite being very affordable. I think they won't be my last vintage MBs.

Very nice! Others may have their grail pen wish list, but I'm finding it challenging to acquire this, to complete my silver pens collection.

Well done.

Very nice. Everytime I see one, I want another one. Although, I may have to part with both of mine in the near term to fund a house purchase. :(

KJY, no doubts the Dumas is one of the best WEs ever done by MB, and the nib is perhaps the most beautiful of all them. After your black fill, have a look at the Irish Green: of all the inks I used with the Dumas, it is the one that seems more suited for this gorgeous pen, IMO.

Thanks for your tip.

I just ordered some bottles of Jonathan Swift and I don't have Irish Green (yet).

Another good reason to go to the boutique!

Just want to let you know that I got a stash of the Jonathan Swift ink.

Today I received a new stash of ink from my supplier.

(Appelboompennen from The Netherlands. No affiliation only a very satisfied customer!)

Three bottles of Jonathan Swift and three bottles of the Meisterstuck Diamond Blue.

The green is not like the Irish green.

It is more like a faded green. It is really close to the colour of the packaging.

See my next reply.

Do you need some? I already asked mister Appelboom if they ship to Australia, because I know that a lot of people wants this the swift or the diamond blue.

Check their website also in English:

Just received my MB Dumas. It has the son's signature instead of Dumas Sr. This is my first broad nib, and I think im going to like it!! I was a bit shocked that the pen really is more of a dark chocolate almost black. I dont think this comes across in pictures, unless mine has just been used and abused..haha.

Congratulations for a great pen! As the gold signature is still perfect (judging by your pics), the pen was surely not abused, at most lovely used... Yes, the color of the cap, the cone and the grip is a very dark brown, almost black, difficult to capture with a camera, but this color (together with the off-white of the star) make this pen so special. You will never be tired of your Dumas,
