I was informed earlier today that I am now the owner of a Dickens set.

Here is my latest Haul, I have another MB146 in Original Barley Corn pattern not pictured here with a BBB nib. That one I think will remain as a backup.

The Barley is the hardest to put down and the one I keep coming back to, so it made sense to get a 'backup'

Recently on a trip to Europe, I picked up Montblanc 146 Stainless Steel II 146 with a broad nib. Even with the exchange rate, I think I pretty good at 495 Euros.

Wow! I dream of such a pen - even in plain old black.

Many congratulations. Hope you enjoy it.

Well, my latest purchase is a used Agatha Christie WE fountain pen, with box and papers. I had no intention of buying one, but circumstances required me to buy it under the "You break it - you bought it!" rule. (Eric47 will have a field day with this one.)

I was in a well-known vintage pen shop owned by a highly reputed pen collector who is my good friend. While I was looking at pens on the glass-top display case, he ducked out to use the toilet while his associate (another known collector and friend) and I leaned over the counter as we looked at more pens. I picked up the Agatha Christie, uncapped it, admired it, then promptly dropped it about 18 inches onto the glass. "No big deal," I hoped. Alas, it had landed nib down and the tines were bent to the right. So...I casually announced. "I'll take it!" They were embarrassed for me as much as I was for myself. We had a bit of a laugh, and the price ended up being very fair. Of course, there'll be the additional $65 or so I'll pay Greg Minuskin to return the nib to like-new condition. (I think, though, I will have him make it into a cursive italic F~M.)

Photos? Well, just look at sarahfar's pen (above) and mentally add bent tines.

I don't recommend this method of selecting pens, but I always did have a hankering for one of those MB snakes!

The good news is you are highly honorable and in less than 3 weeks you'll have the greatest of pens with customized nib. Congrats my friend.
