Hello,

I am new to this wonderful forum but a collector of parker fountain pens for several years. For a 'gift' to myself, I purchased a new 149 with a fine nib from FPH. I owned a 149 back in 1987 but never took to the pen and sold it. Now 25 years later I find the new 149 to be EXCEPTIONAL and have rotated it to be my main pen.

All my best,

Mike

These just came in from penboard. The 1906 granite cap 146 with OB nib and matching BP.

I'm planning to give the BP to my mom for her birthday this weekend, so I'll keep the FP and we'll have the same limited edition number :)....:hmm1: actually, now that I said that out loud, it really sounds lame :bonk: ...

Anyway, here they are with a small sketch I did during a very exciting meeting at work, during which I had to find a way to not go hang myself from all the excitement. For reference, the sketch was done with F nib Andrew Carnegie. I'm planning to start collecting all these sketches I make during my meetings, perhaps I can publish them one day when they fire me from this job. :gaah: ...sorry for the poor quality of phone pics.

Beautiful Vintage pens and nice artistic sketches. Are you an architect, drawing enlisted building sketches at work? A pen pouch is nice as well!, so is the Meisterstuck organizer. Cheers. Htin

Thanks Htin...yes, unfortunetly I am an architect :crybaby: ...wish I was something better :headsmack: . I'm not sure though I'd classify these pens as vintage but it's certainly a nicely sized 146 variant. I compared this pen to both a vintage 1950's 149 and a modern 149 and it's larger than the 1950's 149 and about the same size as a modern 149. It's actually a good sized 146 for those that prefer 149 sized pens.

cheers

Hello All,

I'm new to the Forum and just recently a new MB owner. Had a history of fountain pens, but mainly Parkers and Lamys. Had a recent promotion at work, so decided to treat myself to a MB Fountain Pen, in the end, chose the Meisterstuck LeGrande 146 Platinum, with an EF nib. Also bought at the same time, a leather MB pen case - two instrument case, and a bottle of MB Royal Blue. Couple of quick pics taken with the phone camera.

I've already commented on the Royal Blue ink in a couple of other threads, I chose that ahead of my main preferred colour which is Blue Black or otherwise known as Midnight Blue due to the iron gall content of the ink. I've since been advised that the iron gall ink should be ok to use in the pen as long as I flush out every 2-3 fills, but presently am using parker Quink Blue Black.

Anyway, look forward to visiting here often to get the best use out of the pen, thanks.

My last two purchases were a nice black Monte Rosa 042 and a black 80s 221.

The 042 has been great. The 221 is still on it's way in the mail.

I can't wait to write with it for the first time. I hear the nibs on the 221s are especially nice.

You just HAD to tell me about the size, didn't you!! :headsmack: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Ah well, it'll be awhile before I have that kind of dosh again.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying an OBBB 149 I picked up from a fellow poster. No pics available at the moment, but the Iroshizuku ink makes it float and the nib lays down enough that the lighter colors are actually usable for all but business correspondence. :clap1:

Congrats on a very elegant pen and case. Beware, they're addictive, especially if you hang around here for a while

GP,

I was actually thinking of you when I wrote that !.... roflmho.gif.....bunny01.gif.

I'll post pics tomorrow comparing it with a few of my other pens...just to help you gauge the size for yourself. blush.gif

Just for the record, I don't have strong feelings about the 146, neither for nor against. A regular 146 seems like a good pen, however never owned one since I have various similar sized WE and POA pens, so it wasn't worth buying a regular 146. When I saw pics of this one, I figured I'll give it a try. Like you, I couldn't afford it at the time, but Tom W. was nice enough to hold it for me until I was able to pay for it. (Incidentally, I also need to pay Bry for his Geometric 146 too embarrassed_smile.gif)

I figured, worst case I'd get it and not like it, but I seem to have clicked with it, so I'm keeping it for now. sm_cat.gif.

cheers

925 Sterling Silver Fred. I'm really impressed with the craftsmanship. There is no way to see any seams on any of the parts. The filler knob is perfectly conical, almost as though it's one piece. Truly impressive.

There is an extremely neat detail that I'll try to photograph tomorrow in the daylight, where the clip touches the granite of the cap, they drilled a very small hole in the granite and inserted a silver cylinder so that the clip never touches the granite. It's hard to explain so I'll borrow a macro lens and take some quick pics. I've never seen this detail on any other of the MB pens. Someone put a lot of thought into this, because even that inserted piece is smoothed out to the curve of the granite cap overlay. Just incredible.

cheers

Looking forward to the pictures, as well as hearing about the geometric when you get it. Love the looks of it, but can't justify it for awhile. :crybaby:
