I just found out that I bought an old burgundy 146 with a fine nib!

Actually it was because I made a mistake! :headsmack:

There was a black 147 traveller that caught my attention and while bidding on it I had another window open (that with a burgundy 146) and accidentally placed a bid on that one. I saw it just moments after but since I thought that the pen will go for much more than what my highest bid at that time was, I just "forgot" about it and placed a bid on the traveller also.

Today, I woke up just to see that the traveller went for way much more than what I was ready to bid for it, but that nobody placed another bid on the burgundy 146!

hmm, now I'm not sure about to keep it or to sell it again here? :hmm1:

But, I allways loved that burgundy colored 146... and western fine nibs suit my daily handwriting best. Ithink I'll give it a try... it better be a hell of a good pen! If it doesn't explode or develop any cracks after writing few words with it then I may think about keeping it!

Picked this up Christmas day from the MB Boutique in Abu Dhabi. Amazingly, they've had this pen for a long long time but would never budge on their price until that morning :bunny01:

Adore mine! Has an OB nib on it. Are you leaving yours stock or getting something intriguing?

GP,

Mine came with a F nib, but it feels like it needs an adjustment. I'm sure this pen has been on display for a long time and then moved from store to store over the years so it needs a good once over. I have 5 weeks left before sending it in for a free nib swap. My Octavian has an OB, and I love writing with it, but I prefer to sketch with EF nibs, so I'm probably gonna swap the F for the EF just so I may use it for drawing details and sketches.

But not all hope is lost...I bought the 100 years anniversary 146 (granite cap) from Tom and had him put in an OB nib. He tells me it just came back from MB Hamburg...bunny01.gif

Bryant is holding the Geometric 146 for me as well (I still need to pay him and I'm broke now crybaby.gif) which I believe he sent out to get a B nib.

I honestly believe the Carnegie is a better looking pen than the Octavian, but the Octavian is a bit more conservative...embarrassed_smile.gif

cheers

Wael

Wow! That is a very very clean pen Max! The gold plating on the clip and the nib almost look like rose gold in the photos. I'm sure its the lighting, either way, it's just stunning. thumbup.gif

I got the pen some weeks ago, with some signs of storage, misplaced nib and the cork piston was dried up. Now the pen is restored to working conditions and I also polished the surface to nearly former conditions.

kind regards

Max

Hi Wael,

Yes the gold looks more to rose gold, maybe there is more copper in this gold alloy for this nibs, the rest is the lighting..

kind regards

Max
