The closest color I could find to it is my Moore Tuscan 96, but their hues do not match exactly. Lovely pen!

Fred,

That is a gorgeous pen. I was standing there when you bought the pen. The color is fantastic. Do you plan to ink it?

I never gave that issue any thought until you asked. All my pens are candidates for ink, and this one surely has already been inked in it's time. So my answer is, "Yes." If it was N.O.S., then my answer would be different.

I can't compte with that vintage 224, but I am just the proud new orner of a new 146/LeGrand in sterling silver pinstripe with a lovely stubby broad nib. Have admired it from afar for ages, and took the plunge yesterday evening.... :cloud9:

Pics to follow later....

I can't compete...

This is not a competition (though there is a touch of pride). Please share your new sterling pinstripe 146 photos so we can see. Hey, I don't have one, and I love sterling pens!

Here as promised are some photos of the Sterling pinstripe 146. Possibly not the best quality but had to be taken under artifical light. Will try for some bettr ones at the weekend. Excuse the slightly 'artsy' background-an old Chinese silk brokade dresing gown nthrown over a table. It seemed like a good iea but is maybe a bit busy.....

The pen continues to be an absolute dream to use. I lovely juicy nib with nice line variation, a beautiful weight in the hand, looks that are both tasteful and eyecatching at the same time. As I said before... :cloud9:

Visited the Akkerman store in The Hague today and was planning on buying a Collodi that they had reserved for me, but ended up walking out with a brand new Kafka and a Visconti Homo Sapiens Rollerball.

Although beautiful, I don't see myself using the Collodi :hmm1: . A bit to flashy for my taste and although I usually don't have an issue with 'the step down', I did with this pen. Since I only purchase pens that I will actually use, I fell for the Kafka.

Never understood the step down issue some people have with the most recent MB pens.

Congratulations on your Kakfa purchase, it is a beautiful pen. I actually think the step-down on this pen is more severe than the Collodi. I take your point about the Collodi being to flash, I love using mien in the house but I doubt I will use it at work as it is a bit too bling for me.

Hi Brandon, personal taste / preference is hard to debate / understand. Thankfully we all have different tastes...... :happyberet: I have various pens in my collection with 'step down' sections that I do enjoy (amongst them Dupont Olympio Vertigo, Lennon, now Kafka etc.), but somehow the Collodi didn't sit comfortable in my hand. That in combination with the 'flash' element, made me steer away from it. I don't have all my pens with 'steps' in front of me, but the Lennon and Kafka are longer than the Collodi and that might explain the comfort issue with the step in this case.

Marlene Dietrich in silver. Now at home with the 'others' will try and do a review on it after a weeks use. Firts impressions are very good.

I bought this at the Montblanc shop in London Heathrow airport. Splendid, sumptuous and sober at the same time, perfect for the 149 size.

Really goodlooking. Have not seen this case before is a new line or NOS?

Anyway, hope it protects your MB well!

I think these have been around for a while, I believe its called the Selection. I picked one up a few months ago. They are gorgeous and I love the way they accent the Diamond at the end of my 146 Solitaire!

I just acquired a Leonardo Sketch pen, the 147 Traveller with an OM factory nib in its case with fresh ink (it had been sitting on the shelf for quite some time), a second bottle of the Collodi ink, and a refill for the pencil.

Just arrived from Franklin Christoph and very impressed ! The Penvelope 6 in 'boot brown' holds pen well and allows the caps to protrude out but still have the protection required. The 149 is a very snug fit but does accomodate it. My newly aquired Marlene is shown 'relaxing' in the sun

I asked my favorite dealer Mr Mora to pick me two vintage 149s from the late 60's export french market model with unibody barrels, ebonite feed, semiflex fine nibs at an auction, if everything goes as planned and if these pens are not purchased by someone else I am buying these in early december as a birthday present.

Collodi ink...now I suppose I have to buy the pen??? ;)

And...a Leonardo Sketch pen for my artist wife before they disappear.
