New 642, gray striated. Paid more than I wanted to, but the 64X is my favorite line.

New ball point #8579

I haven't seen this one before; is that a brown color? It looks almost like tortoise.

I got my first 149 today (vintage late 60s) and I'm deciding what ink to use first.

Just picked up a MB 90 Years Solitaire rollerball. I love the look of this pen and needed a side carry with my daily rotation of FPs. Needed something for the times when a FP just wouldn't work.

Marcel Proust with Medium nib. I guess I was lucky - New, uninked with book box, outer sleeve and dust cover along with relevant papers......!

149P - arrived today... Thinking of what ink shall first grace it reservoir...

Fine nib...

As I jumped on the black with white metal, a long time ago (Omas Paragon, Dupont Orpheo, and Cartier Louis Cartier), it has been a long time coming...

Please let me know how the Fine Nib runs on your 149P. About to buy another 149 and want to know how a fine (or extra-fine if I get the Red Gold one) behaves on the 149. Extra-fine is my favorite and have a medium nib on my 149 but it's more like a BB. Very smooth but my handwriting looks messy with it. My 146 extra-fine nib is glorious.

Thanks in advance

The fine nib on my 149P runs between the Tolstoy "F", and the Brahms "F". Very juicy line but also very manageable. Hope this helps, and good luck on your next purchase.

Chris,

While I have always been under the impression that the 149 nibs write a bit more broadly, I am hard pressed to differentiate between a 146 fine and my 149 fine.. Herbin inks in both, written side by side, make it impossible to tell the difference.

I would suggest both lay down a line that is closer to most brands mediums.

Don't know that my feedback is of any benefit. Good luck.
