What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase?

Blade Runner

Recommended Posts

I had not bought any MB for quite a while, but recently made two purchases.

I bought a telescoping piston from a 1950s 144 and wartime steel 250 nib (aka #9 size) that looked like an OB in the photos.

They will be used in a custom pen project I have been planning in my head for a while. It will be an homage pen, likely based on the 139 framework.

Pictures of the parts to follow.

Just yesterday I got a 3-42 in acceptable condition, for a very good price imho. Unfortunately it only has a steel nib, but I'm still surprised by the flex and softness of the nib.

I got it for 50 euros shipped.

Oh that is beautiful Michael! Is that 124 a PL, or it's a 128PL? :-)

This is my only pen purchase this year. I haven't spent time in this hobby lately.

Lovely pen

I keep looking at the piston filler 144's but the maintenance and the fact nibs are very flexible puts me off. Whats your first impression?

You could try looking for one with a K (kugel) nib, I've seen some. This one in particular is not that flexible due to the width of it, I have a 142 with an F nib that is very flexible but i can still write normally with it. I haven't had to service the 142 yet, but i'll probably will have to do it myself due to my location and it's replacing the cork, and now that i'll have 3 of these pens it makes sense to get the clamp needed to remove the piston mechanism.

I hope, unlike the proverbial cat, you have been able to survive the wait Michael. :D
