Great looking pen FredRydr! I imagine that the pics don't really give the depth of the finish.

Tomorrow is the big day (for me). The Tolstoy in "F" should arrive from Bryant @ Chatterley's. I had to get the ink elsewhere, so of course it arrives a day early. So it needs to stand by on the desk "penless" for another day (poor ink). Will post pictures and feelings about the pen soon as I can get a few lines on the paper. Of course I'm having high expectations as a result of the other MB's that I own. But this will be my first WE pen. Woo Hoo!

I picked up this lovely box the other day. It holds 20 pens, and comes in a beautiful black lacquer which as you can see loves dust :P

The fabric is identical to the pen trays they have at the boutique.

The engraving is excellent. The 'M' key bitting is pretty cute

That key is a clever piece of detail - nice pics thanks :)

Yes! It finally arrived in all it's glamour. My new Tolstoy in "F". Inked for the first time with ink of the same name. This pen is remarkable. Same length as the Brahms, a little wider and much heavier. It looks, feels, writes very nice. Although I had very high expectations for the pen, it has met and exceeded them. Thanks to Bryant at Chatterley's for getting this for me. Sorry for the phone pics.

John - what a beauty! I trust, the writing experience is equally sublime...!

What I'd like to ask you is this: do you find the nib a bit small in comparison to the size and weight of the pen?

Congratulations......!!

Thanks,

Un-capped the pen is a bit smaller and wider than the 146 and Brahms, and almost twice the weight. The nib is the same size. And yes, I would like to see the nib size a bit bigger, but I think it works with the pen. It is a great writer and puts down a nice wet line (for being a fine nib).

Montblanc's idea of a "collection box"? No no no!

The person that coined the expression "A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money” obviously didn't collect fountain pens!

Water has a saturation point!

@whalebiologist: those boxes are great! Get yours as long as they are available as prices are already rising.

@FP Newbie: Nice pen; I was surprised by the grey color of the resin. I really like the hammered finish.

A few additions were made during the last days:

  • Montblanc 146 LeGrand Tribute fountain pen arrived last week

and yesterday's Penshow in Tilburg allowed me to add a few nice pieces to my collection:

  • turquoise Montblanc Generation fountain pen
  • lime green Montblanc Generation fountain pen (I've never seen this color on any Montblanc pen before!)
  • Montblanc Meisterstück 138 with an "Importé d'Allemagne" imprint and palladium nib (long ink window and hard rubber parts)

A few pictures from the Penshow are posted here:

http://pensninks.blogspot.de/2015/09/tilburg-penshow-2015.html

Also I've picked up some repairs from Horst Max Schrage:

  • Montblanc Meisterstück 124 which received a new cap lip and star for the cap top
  • Danish Montblanc 246 in coral red which needed some internal reapair
  • Montblanc 35 black & pearl barrel which is part of a future restoration project; most importantly the cap is missing and I'm afraid it won't be easy to find a replacement here.

I will snap a few pictures soon.

Cheers

Michael

The 124 you can see here:

http://pensninks.blogspot.de/2015/01/1930s-montblanc-meisterstuck-124-g.html (still without the star and with the cracked cap lip).

'Will take more pictures soon.

The 124 nib I believe is gold and shows partial plating loss. It writes a fine line with some "springy" flex.

The 138 has a Palladium nib and still shows some of the gold colored coating; overall it shows some signs of age (oxidation?) and writes a fine-medium line with some flex as well.

Both pens provide good feedback which I prefer over the ultra-smooth feel of some modern nibs. Ink flow is generous like I've experienced on most vintage Montblancs with flat feeds.

Cheers

I just love the recent images of the 122 ( MiamiArchStudent) and the recent 134/138 put up by Michael. I just wish MB could put these products out again. Perhaps some the finest examples of purist fountain pen designs I have ever seen.

Thanks! I have a 124 I recently purchased, but the star needs replacing, so it'll be off for replacement. I hope it'll return looking as good as the new star on Michael's 124.

Let us know how yours turns out. Mine was replaced by Horst Max (maxpens) with casein.

Honestly I don't think MB will reissue a replica or tribute with an appereance close enough to the original 12x or 13x models. Maybe something similar to the Heritage 1912/1914 but based on the later models.

If you think about it more closely those pens will most likely cost as much (or more) than a decent, restored and working 124, 126, 134 or 136.

Cheers

Micheal
