Haven't bought anything of Montblanc for a long time.

This time a ballpoint from the cruise collection from my preferred dealer Appelboom.

A nice small and light pen for on the go.

My preferred supplier (no affiliation just a very happy customer):

Another quick acquisition in a sale - a Solitaire Platinum Facet Classique with M nib. This is my smallest pen and intended to be my travel pen, I would expect the metal body to withstand the stresses of regular travel.

Trying to get used to the nib, a little scratch right now. Hoping it will become smoother with greater use, though I may consider switching to an OM within the exchange window.

Got these the past few months,

Document Briefcase

Selection 1 pen case in mocha

Florence 1 pen case in burgundy

5CC wallet, big wallet but slimmer than a lot i've seen

And a Highlighter but i suspect the cap is not original but from a Legrand Rollerball of FP, it seems odd since it's from the same seller and same name imprint as the ballpoint and FP i posted a while ago there was also a classique rollerball that i didn't bid on.

PD: Saw inside the cap of the highlighter and it had a thread, and it does screw on my two Doué 146 Fountain pens.

I am really new to pen collecting, about 3 years new. I quickly got addicted and have purchased and sold countless pens. Each time I think I am purchasing my last fountain pen, there is another one around that I "just have to have"... ahhhh. It is a sickness. I found out about FPN last year, but am still stumbling around as I am extremely tech challenged. Eventually I would like to learn to post photos here.

Back to the topic at hand, a few weeks ago I picked up a Montblanc Leonardo da Vinci FP with a medium nib from Switzerland via eBay. Super low numbered LE. I haven't inked it yet because it is such a good looking pen, I want to just stare at it for a while. Actually, I feel guilty about the purchase and am hiding it from the other half and may simply resell it. I'm laughing at myself as I type this ...

That is my most recent pen purchase in the past two weeks. I think it will be my last, but I know inside it won't. I have my eye on the MB Solitaire 90 Years. Love the gold and guilloche. Really eye catching pen.

Just got this 146 Le Grand Platinum in the mail along with some Irish Green and Toffee Brown inks. Just don't know if this pen is legit. It's a great writer though. Should have my Tolstoy around mid-month, and can't wait for that one.

What makes you think it isn't legit?

It didn't have "No 146 on the cap band, and where the "made in Germany" was engraved. Cleared it up in my other post.

Yes, it is.

Yes, thanks for reassuring me.

Yeah I had the same questions when I got mine. The Pix thing threw me at first.

The 1868 Tolstoy, the first of the Tolstoy pens of either model to arrive at my local Montblanc store.

The sales team and I opened the boxes together.

The oohs and aahs resonated for a long time.

As usual, the store manager wore cotton gloves as she handed over the pen to me, the one with no gloves on. "No pressure, Gary" were her words. Then again, the Montblanc staff recalled my prior comments after showing me the Tolstoy FP pictures a few weeks ago.

Loaded with the MB Tolstoy ink, this pen is a smooth and generous M nib writer. I like the hammered metal texture in my hand and the ultra-smooth, twist-on cap action.

Now I will re-start War and Peace together with a book on Tolstoy's life by Rosamund Bartlett. I'm very different now than I was when first introduced to War and Peace; it should be much more interesting this time.

It should be a Tolstoy-rich autumn and winter for me. I will try to contribute a detailed review (of the 1868, of course) after some more experience with this WE pen.

Ellison, congratulations on the Tolstoy 1868! And I like your pairing with War and Peace plus a biography. Nice plan! When I bought my WE Faulkner, I decided to read one of his books (because I had never read anything by him before). Enjoy the experience.

Many thanks, Toll!

I'm wired this way, too. I feel we get more for the money when the pen (or other object) inspires us to explore its inspiration. It will be fun making notes as I read!

Are you thinking of a nib exchange or do you love the "M"?

I'm happy with the medium nib on the 1868. This pen has a generous medium line width and is a smooth wet writer. It is very much like my Gaius Maecenas POA FP in terms of the relatively wide line from the medium nib. I have a Dumas FP now in Germany to switch out an F for a B nib, so that pen will be my broad writer. I'll probably see that in Nov or Dec.
